Great video 👍. It's weird the circuit breaker kicks because of the crucible. 🤔
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik 2 жыл бұрын
It's a grounding issue in the device I think, when the crucible gets worn down and it's at high temp for some time the earth breaker trips... very annoying
@HeinrichsMade
@HeinrichsMade 2 жыл бұрын
@@ralphmourik that's so weird though. Lol my breaker kicked before a few times. Then it stopped working. The heating coil went bad. I think it was ready to break when it kicked the breaker. Then.... It broke.
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik 2 жыл бұрын
@@HeinrichsMade It has been doing that from just about the beginning but the coil still works fine, gonna look into the electrics in the garage soon and take the furnace apart for a check.

very nice , am not allowed to smelt metals in my flat now if i make anything now its got to be polymer clay or paper clay sorta takes the fun out of it .I still have my solder pot smelter for pewter after the year 1974 as lead stopped been added then and is much safer. anyway mate its good to watch a pro at work I very much enjoy your shows

Nice work. My favorite alloy is aluminum bronze, but this has a nice color. I may have to give it a try. What's the shrinkage like?
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik 2 жыл бұрын
Aluminium Bronze is next on my list, I need to get some more different metals for more alloys. Seen some interesting ones that require Bizmuth. Can't tell you much about shrinkage yet though, I only made this bar so far 👍👊

What is the ratio of different metals to make pure gold
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik Жыл бұрын
To make pure gold you will need.... Pure Gold, It is a base metal and cannot be created. The Nordic Gold alloy consists of: 89% Copper, 5% Zinc, 5% Aluminium, 1% Tin.

What is the temperature needed and furnace needed?
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik Жыл бұрын
Well the electric furnace I use is the Goldbrunn Term 3000, but there are many others like it available, they usually go up to 1150C which is more than enough to melt anything up to copper which melts at 1085C. Propane furnaces are also popular and used for bigger quantities of metal. The most used brand that I know of is called DevilForge.

Uh? How do we find these...
@ralphmourik
@ralphmourik Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the base metals? Copper comes from wires. Zinc comes from wheel weights or gutters. Aluminium can be found in many things, soda cans, heatsinks out of electronics, or in this case from big wires. Tin can be bought as solder without lead, or from pewter with high Tin content, 98% in my case.

Nordic Gold doesn't really have an established value, although it has it's usefullnes in some applications. In my case it's more of an aesthetic value. It looks like Gold so it's pretty. 😁 thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
