Making My New Journal Signature Storage Box

Recently I shared a video of me creating six gel print backgrounds (link below) for a box project I was planning. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to film the box making process however the requests from my subscribers were so many I felt I had to give it my best shot.

Ceri, great construct video! I am about to embark on making 20 boxes to fit inside the cubbies of a wooden shoe shelf that my SIL has given me for use in my studio. I looked and looked online for ready made boxes and plastic bins that would fit the cubbies, but they are such an odd size that nothing worked. Now using your video to help me along I am going to confidently make my own boxes to size. I loved the tips about using the duct tape to secure the box parts and the double sided carpet tape to adhere the pattern papers. On my ATC box that I covered I glued my papers down and it was such a pain in the patootie. Concerning the corners of the box, I might use the metal book corners to add both a decorative touch and further strengthen those corners. Your tip about putting the felt circles on the bottom was brilliant in my opinion! I would never have thought of it in a million years.

VERY useful video..... especially for someone who (like me) keeps *everything* in some sort of box. I've fought with "Contact" paper for ages, ruined perfectly good boxes & made grotesque messes out of lovely papers with glue, this was a wonderful contribution to my sanity! THANKS!!

This is a great video. I purchased a set of children’s Lego blocks at my local Dollar store. They are a great help for ensuring right angles where box pieces meet, both inside and outside. A marker can be used to number the Legos to make sure that they all go back into the container since stepping on them if they happen to fall to the floor, is extremely painful. LOL

I think this was serendipitous!! I have just decided I needed to cover some boxes for various storage and this is perfect! Hi Ceri! I've been making boxes for paper crafts supplies out of boxes from Amazon deliveries. I cut off the flaps and reinforce the top edge, corners and bottom. I bet they'll outlive me! I am covering inside and outside with similar patterns and colors over book pages.

I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for your generosity in making this. I think it must definitely be much harder to film a 3D project than a 2D one. One thought that came to me - have you ever thought about using a larger sheet of cardboard and having more ‘folds’ and fewer joins, if you know what I mean. I just wondered if that’s an idea that didn’t appeal or suit your purposes/ preferences so well.
