What a lovely vlog. You looked absolutely stunning in your beautiful dress - well done. I designed and made my dress 44 years ago and agree with you , on the day I didn't give it a second thought. I wish you many many years of happiness.

Thank you so much! Glad you agree- the day is bigger than the dress 100% and I wish that was reflected in the media more often ❤️️

Congratulations on your wedding and making your dress! I remember my wedding day like it was yesterday. :) Having been sewing since I was a small girl I also knew I would make my wedding dress. I designed mine to have a full skirt, lace bodice, mock lace up back, and sheer bell sleeves (that I made 3 or 4 patterns for). March 25th of this year was my 18th wedding anniversary. I will never forget making my dress with my mom's help. I also made the 5 bridesmaid and flower girl dress with some help from my mom. :) We were engaged 6 months and lots of family and friends helped with everything from the food, to the invitations, to flowers and even the cake. My dress wasn't perfect, but it was perfect for me. Happy sewing!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story- it sounds like you had an amazing wedding! I love when everyone pulls together to help on a couple's big day as it makes it all the more special. I can't believe you made your bridesmaids dresses too- that's truly incredible! 💕💕 Congratulations on 18 years of marriage!

Your dress is just perfection! So very happy for you. I made my wedding dress 5 years ago. I couldn’t find a bridal pattern I liked so I made my dress from a medieval costume pattern! Creme crepe with white lace overlay. Lattice front. Made the maid-of-honor dress and the junior bridesmaid dresses as well. Same design but teal crepe. I used the TV Show “Say Yes To The Dress” as inspiration. I loved hand sewing the trim on the dresses. I also made my daughter-in-laws wedding dress . It was so fun to add the top to the bottom half and jump for joy as she put it on and saw how wonderful it was. People that don’t know how to sew miss out on those close family moments like you and your mom, don’t they! I made a third dress several years ago and was just thrilled when decorative ideas came to me to embellish the dress and the hat that she wanted! Who knew that I could recover a hat and make it look amazing! I truly wish you a lifetime of love and wonderful memories Rosa...

Thank you so much! And thank you for sharing your wonderful story. Your wedding dress sounds just incredible and I too love hand sewing special details- its so relaxing while watching a film or listening to audio books. I can't believe you made the bridesmaids dresses too what a lot of work! I also agree with you that sewing beings us together, I just love it, especially me and my mum- we talk to each other about sewing on the phone pretty much every day! 😊

I loved hearing about your thinking process and patience with the trial and error of mixing and matching patterns. The final product was absolutely beautiful! And your advice at the end was priceless!

Wow! You did such an incredible job making your gown. It makes your wedding day and the memories leading up to the wedding extra special, especially with you and your mom hemming the gown and even integrating in your grandmothers jewelry. Congratulations to the two of you on your new journey and thank you for sharing it to the community! ♥️

May I just say how much I love your mother's outfit as well? Her shoes and frilly anklets are my absolute favorite! Your wedding dress, and all the things that went with it made by your friends and family, like the cake, that's how a wedding should be; not all about dropping loads of cash, but as you said so perfectly, loads of time and effort and love.

Your dress was absolutely beautiful, you should be so proud! I completely agree about the myth surrounding the dress. I got really caught up in this idea that my wedding dress would be my favourite dress of my whole life, but that’s so unattainable. Just get a dress you love and makes you feel special and move on. Like right now I’m thinking “oh if I get married again I’d wear a full length flowery dress” haha!

Haha aw thank you so much! I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel like that- I think brides always look beautiful. I think its about feeling confident, comfortable and happy in what you are wearing- like any other day! 💕

Love your philosophy relating to perfection. You are so right and it's about being kind to yourself and letting yourself off the hook.I have been knitting for over sixty years and made my own wedding dress but I have never achieved perfection. It's good to hear the wisdom of such a lovely young person. Your dress looks amazing as well.xx

Oh lovely! I also wore my Mum-in-law's old crystal necklace -- seeing that brings a lot of happy memories. In fact, our whole wedding was a bit old and new and borrowed (blue sky, also, come to think of it). So loving your whole story. Like you, with so many loving friends and family contributing, it was a glorious day that really let us see, enjoy and remember (to this day!) the more important things. Congratulations on your big day and best wishes for your futures!

Thank you so much for your wonderful message- your day sounds like it was magical! Im working on making a scrapbook at the moment to help me remember the day- just trying to choose which pictures to print.
