Every year I take cuttings from the grape vines in the original Reliance grape area and make new grape vines to sell or to give away. I’ve done this for at least 6 years now.

Holy smokes, hundreds of cuttings! I was going to ask, what do you do with those all, then you said give them away or sell them. That's awesome! Would love to see a video of all of your vines.

I just subscribed to your channel. I needed to know how to propagate my seeded catawba, Niagara, muscadine, and concord (green cuttings). Your channel came up so I subscribed. Thank you for the informative video. Shalom!

Every grape cutting, green or hardwood, I propagate the same way. I use loose shifted garden soil (in my case, I’m using the shifted soil from a raised bed I’m taking apart), mixed with some shredded coconut core and burpee or espoma organic fertilizer. I like to shift out all the bigger pieces of wood or rocks they add to bagged garden soil. As I mentioned in my video, you don’t need to use rooting hormone, but if you’re worried it won’t take or you only have a limited supply of cuttings, you can use something you can get at any garden center to increase your chances, I recommend Bontone II Rooting Powder, I’ve used it before, it works pretty good. But I’ve rooted thousands of grape cuttings without rooting hormone. Another advice is after you pot your cuttings, do not place your potted cuttings in direct sunlight or they’ll dry out faster. This year I’ve added three more variety of seedless grapes to my collection through cuttings propagation, (Niagara, Thompson & King of the North). They’re doing really good. I’ll be posting a video really soon of how I rooted those cuttings. I’ll also be posting a few more seedless grape cutting videos of Reliance, Catawba, Concord & Somerset. My new videos will be more informative and have less sound issues. This grape cuttings video was something I was trying out so I’ll use it as an example to create better videos. Thank your for subscribing and I hope my information helps you out. If you have any other questions, just let me know. -Sal @ OMG

Thank you. I’m going do another video with Fall grape cuttings. I’ll probably keep them in the greenhouse until they root a little before putting them in the ground. Good luck on making your own grapes vines…

How can one give the fall cuttings the best chance of rooting?

I root them inside my greenhouse or inside my condo around the middle of October because it’ll think it’s early Spring and push out some roots and buds. Then you can put them in the ground late November or early December, as long as the ground is not too frozen. They should survive until Spring. -OMG

What is the soil that they're planted in? is that some kind of specific rooting media, or just soil?

I use recycled raised bed soil that have been broken down for ten years and mix it with an organic fertilizer (Burpee or Espoma). I use this soil to plant pretty much anything. I’ll make a video soon about what soil I use for starting seeds, transplants, and fruit trees. Thanks for visiting. Sal

I apologize for lack of volume and bad camera work. I made the video when I started posting to KZbin and wasn’t sure what I was doing. I’ll be making a new and improved Spring grape cuttings video very soon. Thanks again for visiting. OMG

I really didn’t know how to make videos when I did this, so the volume wasn’t adjusted correctly. I’ll try to make a better grape cuttings video soon.
