i feel like botanical illustration is such an under appreciated art form/style/practice (?) these days. especially among young people. i’ve always felt such intense pressure to paint or draw people because that’s what everyone does, but that always leaves me feeling tense and self critical. flowers and bees and butterflies and ferns are so welcoming, i can’t help but be drawn (pun intended) to them. videos like this give me so much motivation to keep going and pursue the art that i love. thank you 🫶🏼

I marvel, marvel, how you & others can sit for so long working on a piece small bit by bit. I go bonkers bored & get distracted making errors. I've been trying to develop more patience even breaking up the time.

I lived in an area where dandelions grew most of my life and now that I moved to where they will not grow, I discovered you can eat them and make tea and wine with them and now I desperately keep trying to grow them. I love your videos. I wish you would do more

You're obviously a very talented artist. May I make one suggestion, please? The dandelion would have been, I think, much more remarkable if you had shown as much attention to detail to the flower as to the leaf. The leaf jumps out of the page (a very good thing), while the yellow flower is, by comparison, kind of a monochromatic blot on the paper, and suffers by comparison. This is a very nice design, too; congratulations!

Tara Whats thank you! Well study of the plant included it is probably a month or so, the painting alone can be done in maybe a weeks time of working the full day with breaks! I use schmincke, arteza, winsor and newton and van gogh, just a collection I have made over the years haha :)
