@mexicounexplained4 күн бұрын
@@CarefulObserver1 You always thought it was especially strange because it WAS especially strange and I still have questions about this accident to this day. I was 16 when it happened. I watched this movie as a teenage boy because people were starting to tell me that I had "the look" and since I was always taller than my age group I should consider signing on with an agent and make a go of modeling. So, I followed JEH's career very carefully (and I did eventually become a model and TV commercial actor when I was in college). I have a good memory and when the accident first happened, the studio issued an official statement saying that JEH was alone when the accident occurred and there were no witnesses. If you go to the JEH Wikipedia page, you can see in the reference section, the first reference from the Eugene Register-Guard backs that up. A few days after the "accident", on Entertainment Tonight and in other print sources the story began to emerge that JEH was frustrated about how long he was on the set and said something like, "I hope there's one in here for me," before firing the prop. How do they know that he said that if there were no witnesses? I never bought the whole scenario that someone that intelligent would do something so reckless, or that someone so professional who is so early on in his career would be so frustrated with a long filming day (it happens and I experienced that myself). People made snarky comments that he was a hunk with no brains, and that was far from true if you knew anything about his story. This man inspired me to do more as we had similar backgrounds. I would have to say that he was the very first person to have such an influence on me. It's ironic that I would end up following in his footsteps for a brief period of time and got to experience the silly and tragic world of modeling/acting myself. I'm glad I stayed in school, though, got those degrees and left that crazy world behind.

I would never want to be a model. They are often treated as replaceable objects and are not respected as multi-dimensional human beings. Things might have been worse in the past, but there has been some improvement in recent times. I enjoyed this movie. It's nostalgic, and although some of the acting was terrible and the whole movie cheesy, the message is positive. It portrays a real man, simple and in touch with his principles, a man who came to his senses and who did not sell out to the superficial and insubstantial world of fame and frivolity. It's so tragic and perhaps ironic that he passed away in his prime, so unexpectedly. He was gorgeous beyond belief, and actually a good actor. One big plus, I absolutely love his voice. And to top it all, this young man saved 5 other lives through the donation of his organs. He was a blessing to many in different ways. ❤ RIP Jon-Erik. 💜
