I get what you're saying. It can sound either very bleak or upbeat and optimistic depending upon the way it's mixed, the mood you're in while you listen to it, and so on. Marian's vocals and the hypnotic quality of the beat play off that dynamic perfectly, which all adds up to an ideal piece of music. It's simple but quite ingenious at the same time, and that's why it holds up even 40 years later.

I love sleaze metal, synth, rnb, ambient, goth rock... (think A-ha, WASP, Francesco Yates) and this one has aspects of all of these - sort of like the best of *all* worlds. Wow! Super. Macht mal mehr davon👍 Könntet ihr mal ab und zu eine reine Gesangsspur spielen. Ich finde die Stimme von Marian so toll. Also schon mit Effekten, aber sonst komplett ohne den Rest.💪 Ich war grad 14 Jahre alt als das Album kam. Niemand also wirklich Niemand kann sich heute vorstellen was ich unternommen habe um dieses Album in der DDR zu bekommen🤔😁💪☺👍

Kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, was du alles unternommen hast, um damals die LP in der DDR zubekommen. Ich habe sie damals leider nicht bekommen ,weil mir das sogenannte Vitamin B fehlte. Dafür aber jemand aus meiner damaligen Klasse,obwohl er kein wirklicher Fan von Alphaville war. Aber wenigstens war diese Person so nett u.hat sie mir dann auf Kassette überspielt.😊
