I was at the DC tour and the opening with Ed was terrific. My granddaughter said I was probably the only person using an IPad and a flashlight. Instead of a phone. Loved the concert.

We know ‘Nothing is ever easy’. However, this is so complicated. I can’t imagine the sophistication of the functionalities and software behind it. Engineer software is always a beast to master. Support is everything. When they mentioned going from MA2 to MA3, I got chill in my spine. It took lots of guts, faith, hell lots of hard works, and heartaches to do that. I can’t imagine it, don’t want to. Just a lot of respect and admiration for the engineers and crews. Mathematics Tour stage is a masterpiece. It’s an understatement. One can only fully understand if you knows about everything behind it, which is impossible unless one designed it. BTW, I manage an engineer software, it’s complex, hard to master, no one wants to learn it. And it’s literally nothing compare to this…

"It was a no-brainer to put the show on MA3" Im sorry this is a cool doc but lets not skirt past all the issues all of us have had with MA3 and unlike Ed here, we don't have the support from MA he gets. So lets be reallllll and say its wonderful the software is at a point 4 years in it can run a show, yay. But yeah we were hesatent due to all the problems we have been hearing about from EVERYONE else.

Hi Jay, you are right, there are definitely challenges. Getting used to new functionalities and workflows always takes time - that´s the same for the Ed crew and they openly talk about that. And of course there are some pieces here and there in the software. But we are there to support you, no matter if its Mathematics tour or a small town festival. Just reach out to your local distributor and we are happy to talk about issues and concerns you have.

@@MALightingInt Hi, so part 2 of my comment 2 years later... Just did a show on MA3 about 3 weeks ago. Programmed my last 15 cues and was going to walk out at 2:30 am. About to power everything down, bring up cue 1, and everything on stage looks wrong. I spend the next 4 hours (4 hours!) figuring out what the problem is. I figure out it has to do with stepping down in instances with led fixtures I have. Figured out the problem, still not sure why its happening. End up having to delete the last 15 cues I had worked on that night, and rebuild them all (with not stepping down in instances.) It was the only way I could figure out how to fix the problem in the moment and I tried a lot. I take videos of all of this and send them, with my showfile to ACT and I am like WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? I ended up walking out of the theater at 7:30am with no confidence in MA3. I just spent the last 4 hours stressing out beyond belief I was going to have to re-program the entire show that was opening the next day. The next day get an email from ACT, hey we are working on this.... then, nothing, Okay. Thanksgiving Holiday comes and goes, nothing. Good thing I figured it out because the show has now opened weeks ago. After 3 weeks I email and ask for an update, 3 weeks. Get an email back, they are STILL WORKING ON IT??? They say It looks like it does have something to do with MIB and tracking with the instances and that's it. That email was received 11 days ago, no updates since. This, THIS right here is why I hate MA3. Because of a bug (I think has still not been confirmed) I pulled my hair out in a theater for 4 hours completely stressed out with the show opening the next day. And here we are 21 days later still no answers. Funny how the thing I spoke about 2 years ago as a concern for me here came true again. This is not the first bug I have had to mess with a show file. I mean this software has been out for close to 8 years now and I went to bring up a color picker last week to create an appearance and the picker opens behind menu buttons so you cant pick a color. Clear as day a bug, how after 8 years? And that's an example of a simple "bug". The other issue I had with the instances and MIB would have been a full show-stopping issue. How after so many years do we still have so many problems that can cause massive issues to shows on one of the most expensive lighting control platforms with almost no help sitting at 21 days? Been with MA since 2008 but maannnn it's getting hard to stay with it.

Well, when you only got 1 dude on stage, you need to do something to keep the crowd from falling asleep. Sorry guys and gals, I don't see the appeal. And think he's pulled a fast one on all of you. But it's your money. You can set it on fire if you like.
