how cool is this? create the music electronically, then learn to play the parts on instruments and then write fun and surprising lyrics. Great song and highly creative. Thanks for showing us your process.

His creativity levels are off the charts. He's such a cool guy, letting everyone know, hey this is how I made it, you can do it to, fuck my shit up for all I care, have fun and learn / feel something. I only recently found the Bleachers a few months ago, and I feel robbed ha. I'm so glad hes doing things with huge artists now, I wouldn't want anyone else but him encouraging and guiding them.

As someone who has (unsuccessfully) tried to make music as a hobby... it's refreshing to see that it doesn't always come out perfect the first time through but takes persistence. Thanks to you I will keep it up! :)

@no further west If you want to make music like jack, use pro tools. If you wanna be like every mainstream hip hop beat maker use Fl. If you wanna get really technical and process stuff like crazy use Ableton. I use Ableton but my music is very different than Jack's

Ahhh. I remember hearing this for the first time, outside of a movie theatre, just playing off, echoing in the corner of those random ass speakers they have outside, and just falling in love with all of those seemingly random sounds, because it just sounded so unique from anything I had ever listened to up to that point in my life (which was whatever band people were throwing at me). Fast forward a few years later and I never thought it would take me into the alternative scene (and just a point a self discovery for me, because I began to branch off and find the taste of music that I was inclined to explore). And then that one song just pulled me through the entire year (unbeknownst to me at the time). I also didn’t know I was gonna fall in love with the entire album and have that be a central theme of my life for years to come.... ahhhhh.... and now seeing how much went into it makes me realize that joyful inspiration I felt was just as much a part of the process as it was a final result. ❤️❤️❤️ I still have that album just sitting in my car’s CD player (yes it’s old, and yes it literally doesn’t leave that place- it’s like its home 😂 it lives there). It just stays there. It’s my comfort zone. I know that whatever happens in my life, I just change the mode on my car stereo (I just remember, despite how horrible the breakdown is), and just drive and cry and vent and go trough every emotion humanly possible... and everything just always turns out okay. It never fails. It’s a beautiful album. ❤️

The music is great of course - but I really enjoyed seeing you "in the zone" for such a long period of time. Passion like this is hard to find anywhere, and it's powerful when it's in your music. I'm impressed.

As I am old-school....meaning around and playing instruments long before you, and midi was born, I am at a loss for words....to express to you that I AM AMAZED at how you could create this great piece of music that kinda started with your iPhone. Glad to see real instruments in this video. Your generation has different tools than I was brought up with, and you wield them like a Jedi. I won't be sending you back my tech-takes of your song, which I really love, but will eventually send you an audio/ video of me playing it live with a rock band, covering it into a set of my original music. Thanks for making this video. Thanks for creating this song. You have a new fan.

Have you checked out his new videos of how he made a few songs from his new album? He talks about playing real instruments and his thought process on conveying the emotions and meanings of the songs through those. Great videos.

1:38 Ooooh, so that's what that is. In a seperate interview I found out that he took voicemails and his sister's or someone's graduation speech to make the "I wanna be grateful for the experiences that I've had" and all that, so interesting but random.:)

Thank you for this video. This is one of my favorite songs in the last .....well, ever. :) The suicidal ideation, the yearning, the compelling feeling of needing to share your anguish with someone, anyone .....the world. Wanting out of the hell that some of us, maybe all of us, go through ...wanting to get better. Plus, it reminds me of the heartbreak I was experiencing at the time of it's release. So like the French in spirit, no matter what, you'll always be remembered for this even if you never write another song. You wrote this. A masterpiece of melancholy & inspiration. I always wondered how you wrote the song. I didn't think you wrote it on guitar. When I went to investigate it I somehow missed this video. So this is cool. I used to create song in that sort of way. Chasing that abstract thing you feel in a sound or a beat .... RonnieeinnoR

I want to be a genius like this! Your songs are so good! I’m so jealous because music is my passion but I can’t sing for shit. I learned some guitar and piano but I’m so rhythmically challenged. A band tried to give me a tambourine to play and I said I sucked at it. They said it would be fine but ended up taking it away after they heard me play it. 😂
