In 2010 after 37 years the last of the wine run out, but seeing Peter and Bill lying side by side in eternal peace brings it home, it was a family show in every sense.

Hard to believe they're all gone now. Don't make them like this anymore.
@gwyngriffiths46203 жыл бұрын
That's so true, as today's comedies are full of vulgure launage and there's nothing funny about swearing, and they don't make em like they used 2, I miss the old classic comedies, and they don't show them anymore incase people get offended, and that's just sad and pathetic if you ask me.

Thanks for that insight into filming..... I can't get enough of SW!! In fact at the end of May we're spending a week in Holmefirth sight seeing and hopefully get a little closer to what I believe to be the best comedy in TV history! !!!!

Hi Geoff. Sorry for the late reply. Glad you liked my video. Hope you have a lovely time in Holmfirth. Its quite surreal to see all the places that you've seen so often on the show. Be sure to visit the cafe, Nora's steps and the Summer Wine museum beneath them. Also The White Horse pub in Jackson Bridge which is about 6 miles from Holmfirth.

To think Bill Owen (compo) passed away less than a year after this filming...
@LawnMowersThingsThatMakeNoise3 жыл бұрын
Did he know that he was unwell at the time of this filming ?
@dominicberesford54592 жыл бұрын
@@LawnMowersThingsThatMakeNoise I believe it was while filming the millenium special in 1999 that he knew he was ill and he obviously had lost a lot of weight through the illness. He really wanted to give it his all right to the end. There’s a real poignancy at the end of that special where Compo plays The Last Post on the bugle.
@lsmith9922 жыл бұрын
@@dominicberesford5459 There are 4 episodes made the following year and the first alludes to his presence but of course he's not there. Compo' s death is attributed to seeing Nora Batty in non wrinkly stockings, I think it was. Then there's the message Goodbye Compo on the hillside by people in white overalls and the discovery of his Thursday lady. And his real life son turning up. I missed all these episodes first time around as life was busy and I'd seen it from the start and grown out of it (69 year old Yorkshire woman here) but found this group of them recently.

I started watching this Britcom on WNED (a PBS affiliate in Buffalo/Toronto I get on Spectrum cable) when I learned Peter Sallis (who voiced Wallace in Wallace & Gromit) had passed away in 2017...I really loved this show. The day I learned that WNED would be taking this program off the air in June 2021 was a rather grim day for me...it had been months after WXXI (a PBS affiliate in Rochester, NY I also get on cable) stopped airing Are You Being Served?, and it was a show a net friend got me into watching because it was so campy. And this is coming from a woman who lives in the United States of America.

Oh? I can’t remember but I thought it was Foggy as the third man until 2000? Unless it was 1999 and a year until broadcast.
@alexlazebat8393 жыл бұрын
nope Foggy had contract pneumonia in 1997 meaning he was unavailable for the start of the series as a consequence series 19 is written for Foggy but stars Truly. i think series 20 is better than 19. Also some series 18 are filmed in wettish conditions and have copyright 97 unless the studio scenes are done much later.

God they’re all wonderful but I would be absolutely terrified of them in person! Especially while they’re working (I wouldn’t want to accidentally annoy them or get in the way and interrupt) but also don’t get me wrong I would still loved to have met them…unfortunately can’t though due to obvious reasons I’d especially want to meet (and be the most petrified of peter sallis mainly because I have a crush on him)
