I cried watching this . My childhood is beautiful because of studio ghibli and so proud to see the them following the Miyazaki's steps and studio ghibli.

No, there just ripping Miyazaki off honestly, they need to create there own ideas, you need a comic artist to direct the movies someone that isn't an animation slave, but someone that is actually creating their own stories and characters. Miyazaki was also a manga artist, creating stories outside of animation, you need a new animation director that is doing that.

@@counterstrike89 ripping Miyazaki off ??? dud they were part of ghibili not just anyone but keys animators ... of course they were mentored by the same guy .. no one slave to anything ... and Miyazaki is not a manga artist .. he had to do the manga to get his first movie funded .... and also its not his main focus since he draws in specific style that he does not bother...

@@Userdoesnotexit Yes but the ideas that you see Miyazaki come up with, they are his, they're sincere, the animators now later are yes trying to be him, they need to be themselves, if they have an individual view or opinion on their own, I don't know, because its not looking like it.

So what did you think of the movie? I watched a DVD from my library and I like the interview with the director, where he mentioned this film didn't have a villain, and that this film describes the issues of good intentions, which mirrored the nuclear disaster in Japan in the years before production.

@@TheRedGameboy How very interesting, I didn't know that! It makes sense when I think back to the framing of the events and directing choices in the film. Although, weren't the guys experimenting on animals/humans the villains? Like, good intentions are irrelevant when the means are so horrific. Overall, 'Mary and the Witch's Flower' seemed chaotic to me, like it was a few several films happening at once.

@@EsyaFL hmm.. it's been a long time since I watched it. That may be an exception, and you are correct. That boy may have been changed if left alone, if I recall correctly. I'll re-watch it soon. I mostly agree. There were a lot of things happening, sort of in stages. Not very linear, but then Spirited Away was partly guilty of the same thing.

Glad Miyazaki didn't see it, because honestly these guys are just ripping him off, he's exactly right. Little girl witches, flowers, magic, they need to make their own ideas, and if they can't, then we need a new director someone that is actually creating maga not just being a slave animating someone elses stories.
