Being totally honest. That dress is a Butterick pattern in Gucci material with two ill constructed canteen lady balloon sleeves. Its only because you are wearing it Karlie, as you can make a pillowcase look glamorous. Even Cardi B's Crimson Tide Maxipad looks better than this.

The dress is terrible structure, the creases are just everywhere. not so great even for a cocktail party not to mention the Met gala.

I love the intent behind this collaboration, but the execution is just not right. The gold fabric is so stiff, so it doesn't move with the body and ends up wrinkly and rather unflattering. And the balloon arms could have been twice as large and poofy to have a more surreal feel to them. That would have been more fitting to the theme as well. I also wished some large statement earrings or an avant-garde hat (or both!) would have been added. The nails and rings aren't enought to bring the camp-factor up.

I think she looked beautiful. It seems when people, especially models, attend the Met Gala they are largely at the mercy of their designer. Some of Dapper Dan's other looks, like Ashley Graham's, were also more understated. The best part of any theme is making it your own and they did just that! Besides, Karlie tends to gravitate toward a more clean, classic, almost Parisian style so it makes sense for her version of camp to be a little more tame than others. You rocked it, KK ❤

I think her dress looks good on her and fits her style. For those complaining about the simplicity of the look, I think it is because of time. She has been super busy this past year, They started designing the dress only 2 weeks before the Met Gala. I doubt that is enough time to custom-make an elaborate showpiece presentation.

Note that i'm not criticising Karlie herself because I love her and i am aware that she is not the person designing the dress. However, i hope in future she asserts more creative direction over the outfits she wears and works with designers that will help her to follow the theme.
