The fact that this series doesn’t have a definite narrative structure and isn’t overly romanticized/cartoonish makes it all the better. The result is a more realistic, raw, unrefined and intimate feeling. It’s just a slice of their life but the audience feels connected to it

You say it's too dramatized? Honey, this is the perfect story-telling animation for dinosaurs that many of us have been begging to have. So what the dinosaurs have human-like emotions? This is an animated story with no dialogue, it needs to have story-telling drama to tell the story for everyone to understand and enjoy. Thank you so much for this amazing work of art. I will be watching this series for years to come and show my future kids too.

I have noticed you seemed to enjoy putting the subject on a hill with a single tree. Don't be hard on yourself as far as artistic quality or the scientific accuracy you get the point across very nicely with speculative biology and behavior. This was an apsolute blast to listen to David. Love seen artists go though and explain their creative process in their projects like this one. The first cocept you had is an intresting one for sure, but I can undertand why you decided to drop it. And the outcome of that choice giving birth to Dinosauria was a pretty good one. Not only did you get to make something simpler and wasnt as hard to do,and I have to say the result looks fantastic from what I've seen in the first episode and the little bits the trailer showed of the other 4. I also have to say huge applause on the research you did with the animals in this,I've seen alot of other projects where this isnt done and it ends up been the same generic JP clones while here were you tried to go for more accurate depictions of the animals and even giving them little refrences to actual specimens and paleontology is simply a joy to see, cause we havent gotten any good modern depictions of dinosaurus in media for a long time and your films while as you said there not documentaries there still among the best modern dinosaurs in media we have and many share a similar opinion. On a sidenote I think the reason your ceratopsian figures have those crocodilian like scales on their undersides might be cause we have skin impresions of Triceratops with those kinds of scales on their underside. This diogram shows it well: file:///C:/Users/telecomsystems/Desktop/refrences/dinosaurus/Ornithiscians/ceratopsians/Anatomy/E3Sd9srWYAQgbFK.jpg Looking forward to seen the rest of the 4 films in this incredible little series and what may follow it.

Genuinely, the amount of detail and care you put into this is beyond fantastic. While there are known unknowns and unknown unknowns when it comes to any science (especially paleontology), the finished product is a marvel of depicting our modern understanding of dinosaurs: the variable morphs of the Styracosaurs (one of my all time favorites btw), plausible behaviors (even if such fights are unknowns), and beyond all the scarring (which even most paleoart misses). The work you're doing is great (always has been) and I can't wait to see what's next!

I personally think the finished product is incredible. I don't see how it's too heavily dramatized, as there are territorial/dominance battles like this in the wild that are this violent (and documentaries like to ramp up the intensity of these battles further). Plus the humanization is just enough to get a picture of what the animals are thinking, while still keeping it subtle and not over the top. Finally, there's the fact you explicitly took out the one thing that we would have tied closest to ourselves; mercy. As stated in "Mother of Nature"; "she can be fine, and balanced, even kind. But never fair."

I'm glad that you've found your creative spark again. As much as I love your Autodale series, I'm glad that you've taken a break from it to do animations that you actually ENJOY again. I love hearing you explain the little details that you've put in in these behind the scenes videos, and I look forward to the next videos!

Love this so much! As big of a fan as I am of the Autodale series, I’m excited about this series and glad we’re talking a break from Autodale to get a glimpse into a project of pure passion and fun! It really shows, too! Can’t wait to see the rest!!

I love the world building in Autodale and look forward to each entry. But I also really want him to have the opportunity to branch out and do different things. Especially if the alternative is a burn-out induced end to all future content. I'm glad to see he's really enjoying this passion project.

what I love the most about Old Buck is how much it feels kinda like a samurai film- the way old buck lowers his broken horn to the challenge feels so much like an old warrior, katana in hand, staring down a fight which he may well not win but feels compelled to because it's the right thing to do- all very anthropomorphic and romantic but I still love it, brutal as it is. the tree looking like a sakura tree kinda lends itself to that too as well as the limited palate. Sometimes you just need to see dinosaurs fight!

I'm glad that you are working on a project that you genuinely enjoy. I love all things paleontology, and I don't think I would mind much if this just became a dinosaur channel. No matter what you decide to make in the future, I'm sure it will be brilliant.

I always enjoy watching your 'making of' videos. Hearing your thought processes, your passion for dinosaurs, and goofing around behind the scenes makes me super happy. Never be sorry for adding extra dinosaurs to your animation, I can see that you enjoy it, and I think the film is much more diverse and 'real' because of it. I'm glad you're getting a much needed break from your other animation projects, and I'm happy seeing you explore 'simpler' projects as a whole. Keep being you, and unapologetically so. Much love.

Dude as far I'm concerned that short was a masterpiece, the animation, the colors and the atmosphere, which in my opinion is the most important part of any piece of media, were outstanding. It felt like watching an old episode of walking with dinosaurs, and trust me recapturing the magic that made us fall in love with these animals isn't easy. I just loved how you recreated nature and life at it's finest, violent and brutal but at same time beautiful, and if this is the weakest one I can't wait to see the others specially now that I've seen the care and love that you've put into this one. Anyways congrats brother.

The way you animate (and the designs of) these creatures does them a great service. The obvious care, detail, and thought put in really brings them to life. I'm so excited to see the continuation of this project!

I didn't know I needed this video as badly as I did, but wow! What an amazingly fun and inspiring look into your process!! I hope you do one of these for the rest of the dinosauria series, because now I'm almost more excited to see the effort that went into them than the finished products themselves. Amazing work!!

I love that you had Lambeosaurus in the film. as a child I was out with Dad and spied a Corythosaurus Airfix Model in a shop window...I was an instant fan. I went and got it from the window and looked at the amazing art....It to this day gives me joy. Duck Bills are awesome.
