The miniseries is about Empress Sissi, who was regarded as one of the most beautiful women of 19th century Europe. The actress portraying Sissi isn’t even beautiful. If I wanted to watch a miniseries starring a plain looking actress, I can just visit my local grocery store. There are tons of plain looking people there.

Its just a series. It's meant to be enjoyed, even though it is not historically accurate. It's just so well done that I can look past the historical innacuracies.

especially when sissi wears cheap supermarket sunglasses imitating a retro model of the 50s, when she’s actually from the 19th century. look, i love creativity, but there are just some moments that stretch any believability to its outmost limits, if not even tearing it completely to pieces. the christmas baubles the empress mother wears are another such example. she’s the f-ing ruler of the habsburg empire. she can afford rubies, sapphires and real pearls, which would obviously be smaller in size, not baubles that are supposed to be hung from christmas trees. that type of modern, oversized, statement jewellery is so grating in this historical context, especially for such a conservative character like the empress mother.

Everything about The Empress was terrific, exciting... I loved it... Thanks to the perfect actors (perfect to me) to get across what was going on during that era. The main characters seemed to work really well together. Netflix, I want more as well produced as TheEmpress... Beautiful costumes and such bold colors... This movie kept me watching and replaying several more times. I'm American and found the cast extraordinary... especially in all those tight costumes and costume changes😳. I've also learned more German this week.

The costumes are beautiful and reminds me of Jacqueline Durran's work for Anna Karenina (2012) with its modern, haute couture feel. It certainly adds color and freshness that makes it more relatable to modern audiences. While I would have preferred a more historically accurate costumes, the approach is understandable. Personally, Sisi's dancing lesson and wedding dress are my favorites.

Apologies for my typo mistakes . Yes, when we watch Ernst Marischka Trilogy SISSI we all feel Like part of that story like part of that family , with all its historical shortcomings . Film as an art , gives us a license to create magic on the screen and great actors recreate that magic by their chemistry talent and personalities . This is for every director must be a guiding tool . Story line and chemistry on the screen between personalities plus dialogue plus great production values and , that we as viewers want to be part of

Austria for generations managed to preserve its quality for the most beautiful costumes traditions When it comes to Making a film like a history drama and a love story , there is nothing that is more important than a good script a good story line and casting the right actors who create on the screen this magic chemistry Which in the new remakes of life of Empress Elizabeth(SISSI ) , is totally absent . Be it a Netflix production or as a new Film . Most actors are totally anti charismatic , and it is so sad , particularly when it comes to Bruno Mondi And main heroes from Sissy to Franz Joseph to other leads.? No glamour No personalities , no chemistry Just reading the lines in a set up created by director . Yes , for the sake of events , which took place during her life , one can watch this new remake , but Nothing would ever be equal to Ernst Marischka SISSI trilogy Romy Schneider Magda Schneider , Gustav Knuth , Karlheinz Bohm Uta Franz Vilma Degischer Josef Meirad and the rest of the incredible cast with spectacular costumes and all the production values The musicBy AntonProfes what a leitmotiv you SISSI legacy and OMG the costumes !By Gerdago and Franz Szivats The glamour the spectacular taste each member of the cast was dressed with great case and elegance People flocked to watch this trilogy. I doubt this shall be the case with this remake Partly because of the makers failure part because we live in they ones when beauty and glamour and great staging and acting went down the drain . The modern generation prefers to watch computer generated shoot them all , rather than a historical era of great Personalities . So sad Yes to be a director is a very hard job , it Carrie’s so many responsibilities and sacrifices . So from professional POV bravo Too bad that the lack of proper casting and other production values were not carried out to an excellence worth watching again and again .

Schöne Aufnahmen, charaktervolle Gesichter der Schauspieler, schöne Kostüme. Ich habe den Film sehr gerne angeschaut bis zum Moment wo der russischer Zar mit seiner Ehefrau in der Geschichte auftauchten. So ungepflegt und grob in Manieren, obwohl die russische Zarenfamilie sehr kultiviert war, vor allem die Ehefrauen stammen aus sehr berühmten Adelhäuser in Europa. Desshalb war ich sehr enttäuscht und habe die Serie nicht weiter angeschaut, weil es der historischen Fakten sehr wiederspricht!

Honestly, I think that Netflix managed to create the ultimate Disney princess whilst highlighting the tragic aspects of the fairytale (which is a very Grimm thing to do, come to think of it). Overlooked by her mother but impresses the emperor and his brother, deeping the rift between them; never realizes the cost of her actions; loves her sister, but ends up sacrificing her devotion for romance; feels suffocated by court rules and intrigue, but chains herself to the crown; means to be kind to her subjects but causes havoc; yearns for freedom yet feels devastated and betrayed when forced out of the palace by her mother-in-law and neglected by her husband etc. I hope there will be at least a second season to show more character development, as they've only covered a brief period so far.

I believe the next seasons will go more in depth about her achievements as an empress, this was mostly to introduce the characters and show the kind of problems going on at the time. "Sissi" was a real Austrian Empress in real life, you might be interested in finding more about her, I know there are a couple KZbin videos about her biography. The way I see it, the show will probably be a historical fiction drama based around the real story of the empress, meaning they'll probably add things that may or may not have happened in real life, but the general story will follow that of history.
