Real kaiser was not weak, this is wrongly presented. The actor himself is handsome to the point and good in his role. He is not at fault for the bad script.

They had a 17 year age gap so that also leaves the directors a space to create a different narrative where the Kaiser still has his mother making a lot of decisions and sissi being not so immersed in herself as she was back then

Based on real life events, historically. I'm a Canadian (french) and i love this show because it's very interesting to know more about Austria. It's very relaxing with many unexpected turns. Me and my friend loves the show. Perhaps 3 seasons, if it's not too much to ask 🤩

Thank you for the subtitles. I’ve loved every single Sisi series and movie since the first time I saw the trilogy with the unforgettable Romy Schneider when I was a teenager. There is an old movie from the 1940s where Sisi sings for the emperor and she wins his heart ❤. I hope Netflix has at least two more seasons of this one. Netflix please do it!

I had only watched this series recently but have watched it 2x within the span of a week. It’s THAT good. I wish I had discovered it when it released so I can talk to more people about it, but I’m also quite glad I don’t have to wait as long as everyone else has to get to Season 2! ❤

This show is better than the crown! I was intrigued moment after moment, whereas with shows like The Crown, I always check to see how many more episodes I have to suffer through. 🙄 I really hope The Empress returns with a season 2! 🙏

I have the attention span of a gnat. RARELY do I ever find a show that I’ll watch the whole season through. AND WITH SUBTITLES!? No freaking way. But I fell in love the first episode. I watched the season all the way through in 2 days. It is SO GOOD. I can’t wait for season 2!

After listening to them all describe the character development process, no wonder this show is so damn good. It's almost jarring to seem them as themselves, with such different mannerisms of speech and body language. The tone and nature of their responses are so refreshing compared to the Hollywood machine, where so many interviews and personalities tend toward the bombastic!

I just finished watching The Empress series in Netflix (thank goodness it was in English). It was fun to watch what was it like way back then. I would die in an instant if I have lived in an era where candles are the lights at night and in dark places...good lawd!!! They both look awesome! Though I am not really a fan of very short hair for women. The show is cool! I am waitin for Season 2.

What a wonderful cast and directors. It seems that everything fits from the smallest to the biggest aspect of the film. The relationships the actors have with each other that are so fun to see in this interview. I love the natural but classy behavior of all, the way they all speak and present themselves. I am going to watch the show now, after having been such a fan of the old Sissi films I watched in the 70ies/80ies. It is funny actually, because my mother always found the old films too soapy and such and I am certain she would like this new series, as it will, no doubt, be attempting to be much less soapy and even more authentic.
