You can do a landscape visibility mask to create holes in the landscape. Makes it easy to do caves and underground structures. In your Landscape mat, just make sure its set to masked and add a landscape visibility node to the opacity channel. Then you can paint holes in your landscape.

3:50 you can use the landscape tools to paint holes in the landscape. (it's used for making caves etc.)

I don't think the default landscape can be sculpted in concave shapes to make caves

@@anboniwow There is a tool in the landscape mode, a brush called "visibility" and it creates holes in the landscape - it removes collision so players can pass through the hole and it's used for things like caves etc.
