Fifty two years ago I brought a first washing machine. We lived in town, very poor family and washing was done by hand by my mother. The washing day was miserable one, only some soup for dinner, lots of complaining of my mother and mass all around our humble little flat. Washing machine was far away to my parents means. Then I got my first employment very bad payed and still living with my parents, but I decided to buy washing machine. It was big and ugly, but for us it was the most beautiful thing we ever had. My mother used to put the chair in front of the machine window and she was watching the miracle of washing. It took me more than a year to pay the machine installments, almost the third part of my months salary, but I never complained or regret this purchase. It changed our lives to better and I would be grateful for it for ever.

I completely understand your excitement at the arrival of the washing machine! After THIRTY years off-grid we finally, this year, got a dishwasher -- a real game-changer. You can imagine that if we have been 30 years off-grid, we are no longer exactly spring chickens... not having that pile of dishes to wash every day is a real joy!

We live off grid too and have used an automatic machine for a few years. If you do a 30° wash, its plenty warm enough and uses a lot less power. Being able to wash clothes more regularly your clothes don't seem to get so dirty, if you get what i mean. Things are coming together.

Congratulations on the washer! Some appliances just make you happy! Nothing wrong with that! Is there enough room to put the washer somewhere near the shower? Then, all you need is a splitter for the hose! I suppose you could always build a little breeze block shed. "Uncle" Nick would help after he builds his cold room! Lol! Be very careful about the foxes. If they're hungry, they'll go after the cats too, or horror of horrors, Frankie! That's how I lost my cat. Have a good week! Blessed Be!

TipTopTips -DANGER- Do not use the coiled extension cord with heavy loads ,B ecause it works as an eletric selonoid and can melt the wire insulation ..... besides,,, even with normal loads it increases eletric consumtion.. - In the winter days with low batery , you can use the machine with cold water or low temperature program (engine=just 300w) (heating element =1800 to 2000W) - Check the hose (inLet) filter once a month because u run water from the well... - Find a flat board to put the machine or else soner then later the "machine feet" will fall in the pallet gap when centrifugating 😄 ..... take care

Forgot to add. There is a circle cut out at the bottom of your washer on front you can use a tool to open it if your machine has any sort of issues. It is another drain. sometimes sediment and in my case, cat hair clogs it. it just runs free and cleans out the stuff .

Just watched the Ben Fogle episode, what a lovely couple Luke and Sarah seem to be. On another note, when you take cuttings, it is usually recommended that you cut it back to just two leaves because as it doesn‘t have roots it cannot sustain lots of leaves and just dries out.

I know how you feel to get a washing machine. I was the same when I got a tap and pipes to my sink in Mozambique instead of going to the well and collecting by hand and having to shower in a little bowl with buckets of water. The locals were worse of than us who lived in the Bush that is really off grid. I'm off grid now as well have to have water delivered and have solar have a little washing machine that is for a motor home but does fine for us. We must be thankful of what we have I'm far better off here but I have memories of how the people survive in Moz and my heart is with them walking miles to get water. That to me is really off grid . Please always be happy with what you have and will get I am and say thankyou everyday for what I have and for those who have not . Enjoy your washing machine I do ❤

Just a quick thing about electrical safety Clarissa...it is a very good idea to TOTALLY unwind all of the cable form the reel. This is because if you don't, what is still on the reel creates a solenoid, and can generate heat...and melt the wiring in the cable...and potentially cause a fire. That type of reel was BANNED in the Royal Australian Air Force back in the late 1970's - early 1980"s. They have a type of reel which you must unwind in order to gain access to where you can then plug in an appliance (can't quite remember when) for this very reason. I also mentioned this to my BAE Systems Bosses when I was out in Saudi, but they couldn't give a damn... Just thinking of your safety .....Cheers.

Wonderful video to watch in bed on a Saturday morning/afternoon , I have been unwell with shingles so I am under doctors orders to rest up for another week. Great news on the washing machine I know the feeling of having clean clothes and sheets, when I lived in a tent in Spain many moons ago, I has to cater for 30 accommodations which all had to have clean bedding and seating covers, the list was very long. I was managing a holiday complex for an English company who sent me over a washing machine. It was the best thing I could of received, just in time for the holiday season to begin. I had the same set up as you and the washing machine was up and running in no time. With the hot weather drying times were super quick, love all your washing blowing in the wind, looks like my blanket on the line too, National Trust? You are both stars in the making, take care, watch you again soon.

Yes, you can notice the difference with your clear up 😊! Congrats on acquiring your new washer 🙆🏻♀️, woot! Bet you'll notice having a few more euros in your pocket from not having to go to the coin lavaria machine. Much nicer to be on your laptops and/or enjoying a glas of your own delicious wine🍷. It's so cool to see you achieve your own milestones making your off grid life more comfy. Maybe Albi met a neighbor who blessed her for ash wednesday... early? The heavens smiled 🌞 on you for your first hot washy wash. Carissa, i love how you are often the one assembling and installing appliances, you're a lovely empowering role model for us wimmins young👧 and old👩🏼🦳. Yes, you deffo need to shift on your feet to figure solutions for off grid challenges! I often wish i could shower my mom outside on the cement patio... you inspire me to devise a solar powered, heated round cabin or tent to spray wash her aply rotating (soft) brushes to soap & scrub like in the car wash... the water coukd just splash onto the nylon walls then drain straight into the french drain 🤞🏼😊. I saw a neat video i wanted to send Iwan but couldn't figure out how to... someone forage a tiny oinecome when it was closed up. They left it in the sun on a windowsill. After some days, it slowly opened and began to drop its tiny seeds. When it was done, the person had a ceramic cup sort of the shaoe of a cradled palm and its center had an angled little pot with tiny holes. She filled the pot with growing medium, then tweezed individual pine seeds into each hole, then covered with more growing medium and a spray of water. When the seed sprouted and began to flower, it formed the most charming baby bonsai, and it made me think of Iwan. If ever i get to visit out your way, i must find you such a ceramic dish and a tiny pine cone starter 😊. Omg, Albi and João doing their FOGgie style ying & yand thing in a rectangular basket is to cute 🤗. I'm sure you enjoyed your premiere with friends 💕.
