Same.. I remember Kristy saying a year or 2 back that you all had maybe 20 more summers! That really stuck with me as I am 65 next month and true for me also. I was thinking about our country’s future today and it hit hard that 4 years in my 60’s is so much more significant now than when I was in my 30’s! I’m happy you checked in and know there are a lot of like minded people that are here to support each other… and still fight for each other if need be. Lots of love to you both.

“Learn to be done; not mad, not bothered, just done. Protect your peace at all cost.” I first saw this quote on FB about 4 years ago when I was experiencing the sadness and sense of alienation you both appear to be dealing with. I am 73 years old and since all my best efforts have done nothing to prevent another 4 years of madness I’m going to protect my peace by limiting the news, political rhetoric, and social media. I admire you two greatly and hope you find whatever you need to protect your peace.

I just watched your video, and I have to agree, there's a heaviness in the world right now. I'm nervous about how the next 4 years will go, but this feels heavier. It feels like many are struggling on many levels. I've had a hard time staying in my healthy routine and been an emotional and physical wreck. It will take time to work through the heaviness, but your video shows that we can go through it together ❤️. You inspire me every time I see your videos, and you've helped me go from walking with pain in each step 3 years ago, to being able to go for walks and having a goal of hiking the Grand Tetons. Please know, we see you and feel you, and just keep being you!

In difficult times, I am reminded of a poem I read in 3rd grade. The portion I memorized back then has guided me well for 60 years. Everything good comes in its own time. You have to believe the buds will blow, believe in the grass in days of snow. Ah, that’s the reason a bird can sing, on his darkest day, he believes in Spring. Douglas Malloch

About 18 months ago I had written that I had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Your words of encouragement have gone a long way. I have recovered from 3 surgeries and 1 and three quarters yrs chemo.your youtube videos help me so much. And even though I am not a gym person I have started a gentle but strengthening routine under the gym director. One is for balance which needs much improvement. So hearing how you are taking somewhat a slow getting back lets me know I will slowly return to the AT even at 72 yr. As you often say "listen to your body" Enjoy the down time and planning.

You two have made a huge impact on me. Just sayin’ Because you are older, you helped me realize what I am still capable of. At 60, I hiked the JMT and soon I can get rid of this work thing, and I’ll thru hike more and longer. You influenced me, I have a ULA pack because of you. You inspired me to do more. Life is challenging and grief is real and soooo hard. Hugs.😊

Be sure to celebrate each achievement on your journey. You two are awesome! ❤

I think a lot of us are feeling the way you guys are feeling, morning, lost, disappointed. I’m trying to keep busy by getting outside, also doing my peloton when to yucky outside and then working on my embroidery. The most important thing is keeping in touch with friends and not giving up hope. Midterms are two years away and we as women have come so far so we can’t stop now. Love watching you guys you are very inspiring to get out and hike and bike. Been watching you since your PCT. Have an awesome day.

I have only been watching your videos about a year but binge watched several of your adventures. Your videos have helped me get through some tough times. It was great to see your faces on this very sad day. You put words to the exact feelings I have been having. There are several major changes that need to happen in my life but it is very difficult to make myself do any of them right now. Thankfully I have found a great trainer who is helping me get stronger and healthier. Your adventures also have made me realize that I can get out and live my best life even as woman of a certain age. Thank you for the work you do into sharing these videos. You touch a lot of people but we realize that you are real people going through the same things that we all go through. Take care of yourselves first.

It's very understandable - just give yourself some grace. You will find your way back to joy and new adventures. Grieving is important, and you just have to take the time you need. There are no "recipes" on how to deal with life's blows. I am sending you big hugs from my big adventure traveling in Tasmania and now the South Island of New Zealand. I am always so inspired by you two, and I just want you to relax, don't feel pressured to "produce" anything for us. We'll wait for you and be there when you are ready. Sending hugs and love, and remember to be kind to yourself.

I relate 100%. Love your authenticity, and so many of us are feeling unmoored right now. In the meantime you're right that being outside is key. Especially in southeastern Arizona, because as you can imagine, our window of cool daytime weather is pretty short! :-) I thought I'd share my favorite spots you can get to within an hour or so from Benson. You've probably been to some of these already, but you've been an inspiration to me to go explore more, so some of these places I might not have discovered if not for discovering your KZbin first. Thank you for your videos. ❤ *A fun backcountry version of The Loop to go biking is the San Pedro Riparian Conservation Area east of Sierra Vista; great views all along there and I believe it's over 20 miles long. *The Anza Trail near Tubac (cute little town) is an absolutely beautiful cottonwood ribbon along the Santa Cruz creek; also 20ish miles long and bikeable until the golf resort. *There's great birding all year at the Paton Center for Hummingbirds and hiking trails in the nearby Sonoita Creek Nature Preserve in Patagonia. Quite a few birds on the rare bird alert are seen here. *Not too far west of you there's Rincon Peak if you're looking for a big hike, or Cochise Stronghold to the east. *A lesser-known but beautiful hike to avoid the Saguaro National Park crowds is Agua Caliente Hill in northeast Tucson. It's right between Mica Mountain and the Catalinas, overlooking that Redington Rd-to-Molino Basin section of the AZT. *And my #1 suggestion - the new section of Passage 4 of the AZT that was completed right after you went through (it opened in summer of 2023.) It's not so far up into the Santa Rita foothills as the old passage, so instead of the doubletrack roads out of Patagonia it used to be, the trail is now along pleasant rolling hills and canyons with beautiful views of Mt. Wrightson and the surrounding grasslands (but still in scrub oak and manzanita, so not overly exposed to the sun, and very pretty.) I hiked there yesterday and thought how much you'd enjoy it. Cow tanks and all. :-) Solidarity and hugs from Tucson. ❤

Hi. I'm in Chile and have been for two months. I've been slow traveling and in the same town, but just shifted from Pucon to Puerto Varas mostly to see La Junta in Cochamo Valley, the Yosemite of Chile. It's been good to be in a warm culture and not tuning into US political news at all. Recently, I got into about a week of inertia and feeling unsettled and came to the conclusion that it's okay. It also eventually motivates. I'm also heading into a few weeks of being on the road to take the scenic highway 7 part way south, then the ferry thru the fjords to Puerto Natales and hike in Torres del Paine area. There's the O hike and the W hike. I'm taking the W hike that is less demanding but my visa will be getting close, so it's in the interest of time. From there on to El Chalten in Argentina to hike in the Fitz Roy mountain area and on up to Bariloche that is gorgeous, then back thru Pucon and maybe north to Pichilemu that is coastal with kayaking opportunities as the weather starts to get cooler. Plus Pichilemu is fun to say. Today I visited waterfalls and the road out to them from Puerto Varas along the 2nd largest lake in Chile with stunning views of the snow-capped Osorno Volcano has an excellent bike lane that apparently continues for miles and for a ways around the lake. February is the busiest tourist month just to keep in mind. When I met you, I had just lost my mom and had been caregiving for a few years. Feeling much better now even tho I've always felt she is free. Still I think of her daily. That experience along with other things has set me on a new inner path. I've purposefully included some place names above to look up. Feel free to contact me about travels. I believe you have my email. Some of these places like La Junta takes a little more planning. Also in towns like Puerto varas and Puerto Natales there are hiking gear rentals. There's also a very long thru hike in the Andes. It's good to learn some Spanish, too. I also rent in rural places out of town and walk or use buses.

Lean on your community that you’ve built by sharing yourselves to let us help lift you back up. This video is an apparent effort to do just that. I was recently in Quartzite and Yuma and thought I might drop by Benson to offer a hug and some good cheer. I hesitated and then decided against it so as not to intrude. Right now I am sending you both a huge caring hug. It is ok not to be ok. And it is fine to share that. In the end you’ll be back on your feet. Keep on keeping on. You both will make it 😢, It is flat hard. But if I have faith in anyone, it is you guys! Yes it is okay to take time to let it all sink in and that time is totally individual. Don’t beat yourself up self up over it. Compare the time you had with your mom, I don’t believe anyone with any heart could just pop back. But a little bit at a time will start to help, when and only when you’re ready. Forgive the grammar, it is late and I’m a bit bummed myself. Hugs from Oklahoma

One of @MorganHarperNichols "word of the year" ideas was: "Harmonizing. Remember: there is room for both your efforts and your rest, and you don't have to choose only one or the other. As seasons change, the way things come together may change, and that's okay. There is still room to create new music, anyway." That one really resonated with me coming into this new year. Good to see your faces, as always. Take care of yourselves and each other. ♡

Question: What process have you found that works best for planning out of country trips? My partner and I love watching your videos and hope you keep making them! You inspire us to get out and keep on going!!

We just research on line and buy guidebooks and maps. We read blogs also.

Good to see you. Grieving too. As far as questions, I am wondering if you have modified your diet or if you take any supplements to support your bodies as active 50+ women? Thanks for sharing your lives with us!

Thank you for this share. Hopefully it also helped you to share with us. Sometimes just speaking your grief helps with the healing. ♥ Pack rafting!! Great idea. Saw some pack rafters on a trip to AK this past summer. Would like to give it a whirl myself. Take all the time you need! What matters most is that you’re doing what feels right for you, and I’m glad you're taking us along for the journey. Even if you two decide not to continue : >( , your videos have given me a sense of community over the years, and I truly appreciate that. Take care. Be patient. Sending much love to you both.

I hope you don’t give up on KZbin. It’s the only way I can keep up with you as I am not on any other type of social media. I agree with you, sometime you just get in a funk…hang in there, I’m sure it will pass. Thanks for the update.
