My name is Cindy. I am the owner of Sylene’s Gems. I make polymer clay earrings for people with and without pierced ears.
In this video I show my personal technique on how to make & assemble the polymer clay huggie hoops.
The following tools were used in this video, and they were all purchased by me. I am not compensated for anything said, or purchases made from this video.
-Spanish Lace Texture Sheet by The Clay Impress. It can be purchased here:
theclayimpress...
-Outline Huggies by The Clay Impress. This, and the other huggie outlines can be purchased here. You can also add on a metal tube to bake your earrings on from this same menu item:

Can I just say, as a mom who's trying to get into clay jewelry as a hobby for my SAH sanity, it was so encouraging to hear your kids in the background ☺. Also, I loved this tutorial. I was so sad to see you only had 2 clay jewelry tutorials.

@@cindyslifeSGthese are really nice❣️ cute little huggies 🥰 I do have a tip something I learned from one of the many wonderful creators I follow On the backs where the shinny area is instead of sanding etc. cover the earring post & the entire back with the same color liquid clay as the earring. In this case black. The finish is so smooth & IMO looks really nice as a finished piece. Especially if u sell your art

I was making ear cuffs like this 15 years ago. You can also make larger ones, big enough to go over a ponytai. :)

Cindy, love your earrings. fyi: I use small cardboard plats, you can get at the grocery store and small mailing boxes with the tops cut off to put my tiles in when I bake my polymer clay. It’s a lot easier to handle hot tiles. You can also cut half circle or V’s on each side to fit your dowel rod’s, to set them in for baking. I also use the boxes for drying after sealing my beads and pieces. I put toothpicks in the holes firmly so they don’t spin (put them in from the backside), then seal them and stick the toothpick’s in the variegated tops of the boxes. I hope you find this helpful. You may share any info I share with you, if you find it useful. I do not have a utube channel, website, or Etsy, etc. if you have any ?’s, just ask and I will try and help. Sorry this is so long.

As I was reading your comment I was thinking "I really hope she has a channel" because it would be a gold mine for me right now as a bigger just starting to slowly buy supplies to get started. I'm trying to be thrifty and put my focus into quality clay instead of a ton of supplies so all the tips and tricks are greatly appreciated by me! Thank you for your info!

These are really cute, to add to it I would highlight the high points with silver or gold then cover it with UV resin. Just a thought ✌️

If you film with your phone long ways instead of tall ways, your videos would show so much more. Filmed like this, we only get a little phone sized block in the middle of a blank screen. Really cute earrings!

What clay are you using please. It is quite flexible. I know properly cured clay will have some flexibility but I wondered if you’re using Cosclay?

They look so cute I was also thinking I could wear them as a ring too lol One question though, I saw some other clayers saying you shouldn’t put the pieces back to bake again once glue was applied as it would release toxins or stuff. What’s your thoughts? Maybe it’s a safer glue that you’re using? What brand? Thanks a lot!

Loved this video. Just one question. Why did you bake it on raw rice grains?
@cindyslifeSG
@cindyslifeSG Жыл бұрын
Thank you! So, when I baked on the raw rice that was to be able to ensure the Huggies didn’t move. I adhered the posts with liquid clay and if I were to lay the Huggies on their side, the liquid clay would have dripped. So, I kept them in rice and upright so the liquid clay didn’t drip.

Cindy! What brand clay do you use and how long do you bake your Huggies?
@cindyslifeSG

Hi!!! These were made with Sculpey Souflee. I bake at 275 F for an hour, but sometimes a little longer because I’m paranoid about under curing. 🤣🤣

Ciao, sei bravissima. Per favore, aiutami . io uso il fimo, ma ho provato diverse cotture e si spacca sempre non resta flessibile. Ho 2 termometri, provato a cuocere mezz'ora o anche un'ora. Si rompe sempre 😢

Lovely! Do they go brittle over time?🇦🇺❤️
@cindyslifeSG
@cindyslifeSG Жыл бұрын
Thank you!!!! If not cared for properly, as with all things, they will likely break. I include care cards with each purchase to help preserve each set the best way possible. It’s advised to keep them out of heat, out of water, and storing them properly to name a few! But because they’re cured properly at the appropriate temp, they aren’t brittle. 💛
