In this video I show you how to make a mushroom pendant using
polymer clay, simple clay modeling tools, acrylic paints,
protective wax and natural crystal.
For a better final effect, as well for better protection for the pendant
(to prevent paint peeling and scratching), I coated it with a layer of epoxy resin.
The effect can be seen in the pictures at the end of the video, but the part
where I work with epoxy resin is not recorded. If you want to
see how I work with epoxy resin in the next videos feel free to comment. Also
write a comment if you have questions and suggestions.

Those are beautiful! What type of protective wax do you use?
@ellieart4233
@ellieart4233 Ай бұрын
i use this wax from the link ---- www.amazon.co.uk/Chalky-Chic-Marabu-26225840-Crackle/dp/B01E7VL8MQ. I apply the wax before painting with acrylic paints because it sticks well to the polymer clay, does not slip and creates a good non-slip surface for the acrylic paints. Also, with its patina effect, the work is shaded and given a much more beautiful visual effect. For the same purpose, ordinary brown acrylic paint can be used if it does not slip from the polymer clay

lovely tutorial!! thank you for sharing with us! I'd love to know what the purpose of brown patina wax before painting is?
@ellieart4233
@ellieart4233 Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I paint with a brown patina to give shading. The brown color penetrates into the depths, I wipe it from the surface of the bumps, and in this way a beautiful shading is obtained. I use wax instead of ordinary acrylic paint because the wax makes the surface of the polymer clay less slippery and makes the acrylic paint, which I then apply, not slip and stays on the surface better. I don't know if you've ever painted on polymer clay, but sometimes it's very difficult because the paint doesn't absorb into the smooth surface of the polymer clay, so I apply a layer of wax before painting. But in the meantime I found a polymer clay that is good for coloring, it's called papa's clay and it's really suitable for coloring after baking.

Beautiful creations. Does the crystal lock into the clay without glue .?
@ellieart4233
@ellieart4233 Жыл бұрын
In my case, there was no need for glue because I use clay that is very soft and sticky, easily sticks to crystals and other surfaces. On the other hand, when I work with FIMO, I always use glue.

@@ellieart4233 they don't sell that in the US, is there something else I can use??
@ellieart4233
@ellieart4233 2 жыл бұрын
@@JudysRevenge You can use acrylic paint. I use that wax because it takes more time to dry and I have time to remove it and because the wax color blends and gives more natural patina effect.. But acrylic paint can also give a good effect. The problem is that it dries quickly and is harder to wipe from the surface, but even in that case there is a solution, you can remove it with a nail polish remover.

I don’t understand how people use polymer clay because you have to bake it and if you’re putting that crystal inside the oven couldn’t that start a fire?
@ellieart4233
@ellieart4233 2 жыл бұрын
the polymer clay is baked at a temperature of up to 130 degrees Celsius for about half an hour. The crystal withstands much, much higher temperatures so there is no danger. I bake the polymer clay together with the crystals, with glass parts, with wood, and I have even tried with epoxy resin because I had an epoxy resin cabochon on which I made a frame of polymer clay and it was all very successful. Crystals, wood or glass can not be damaged at that low temperature, I just do not recommend baking with plastic.
