Gods watching over you as you build! I’m glad you weren’t hurt more than you were. I do love watching you and Gary build your house. I was sapost to build my own home but my helper got cancer and we had to quit! He’s gone now; he was my bestest friend, teacher and brother through Yeshua/Jesus. I miss him terribly! I pray you two stay safe through your build!

My knees have been knocking every time you got up there. So when you fell, my heart raced so hard. It was a miracle that you fell straight down & not over the edge. I’m sure you feel much better having boards down everywhere you’re working. I for one will be relieved when you get to the point of deck boards. I’m terrified of heights, I’d refuse to get up there until the boards were down.

It's cool watching CRC videos and hearing you guys in the background cutting wood and putting screws in 😅, Mel take care of yourself girl, don't overdo it. Now you can relax and Gary can finish the roof beams. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. See you on the next video ✌️✌️

I would highly recommend using hurricane straps for the joist and a scattering of Sampson Strong-Tie screws that would go thru the rafters and into the main beam. Even some PL Premium Adhesive along the top end of the rafters beside the edges would be an improvement. I don't know what sort of winds and storms you get there but preparing for extremes is never a bad thing.

Another great video as always.Glad to see you're getting better Melanie. I watched that fall over and over and over and I really thought you could have broken your ankle the way your foot rolled. Question ? didn't you need to put the metal roofing on first uner the beams of the porch before putting the beams on roof? What about rain water seeping under those boards of the porch roof ? Will you put up Eve Troughs on the edge of the porch roof ?
@diyfferent
@diyfferent 3 ай бұрын
No, framing gets done first, then metal roofing. You never do metal first and then add framing over that. There will be no water seeping under boards.

@jeb3415

They should do that any time the scaffolding is near a drop off edge. The brakes don’t keep the scaffolding from skipping or jumping when lifting and maneuvering heavy or shifting weight.

@@lydiamitchell6814 I know that is why I made my comment. And then in this video failed to notice the open edge at the back left of the scaffolding. I know the camera angle can make it look closer, but yikes. And not a criticism. A genuine concern.
