This video made me long for the days when we were free to hop in the back of a truck bed & the more the merrier, with cousins who were living close by, a picnic packed at last minute & enjoyed the lake or beach. Those were great days!

I was thinking about your problem with what to do on the overhang, and the only way is to box it out, but under your new overhang so you protect your house from water as much as possible. I think it doesn't seem like it will look right, but it will make you smile when it rains hard.

I don't think the overhang itself is the hard part. He's just not sure how to make the soffit look good underneath because of the way it comes to the wall of the house, especially if he installed a flat ceiling in the porch area. It's hard to explain but yeah it is a complication.

DO the 16” overhang Gary off your gable fascia board. Don’t cut off your original roof overhang because it’s part of your roof strength of the house. Take a long 2x6 and place it out on beam tack it to the fascia just to get an idea of the look 👀 👍🏻. Ps… happy Father’s Day Gary from Canada 🍁

I know you changed your mind about a wrap around deck for now, but now’s the time to plan for the future. I’d cap it off as if it was the corner joint for the side section of the roof. Which is the easiest too. I think you’ll end up at least putting steps off of the porch. No one likes to think about it(I don’t even like to say it out loud)but it’s a second escape route if you weren’t able to get to the front door or windows too.

Just curious what the game plan is where the porch roof normally feathers out where it meets the roof you added the thickness of the two by planks. That's a lip that will hold water won't it? I'm sure you have a plan but I may have missed it or had a blonde moment?

You should put some glass pieces in your porch roof to let some sun in & brightness Good job. I would cut off the overhang & make it flush, if you leave it it provides a place for birds nests & wasp nests & other insects to hide & burrow into your house.👍

Why the shims under the wood? There is so much extra weight on the roof. I can see areas where space can be seen under the wood. Others have a different opinion of how you’re building this but I think had you had a real a building plan with very specific measurements to follow you wouldn’t have to pretend you know what you are doing and you wouldn’t have to change directions in your build.

Hello, you have complicated this canopy, the last plank of the canopy should also be the last parallel to your roof and then you could make a nice angle for the extension of the terrace. Then you would not have such a gap on the roof because it would work out as it should. Unfortunately, you made a big mistake. Lp.

That's not true. It's all about the delivery. We love hearing *polite* constructive criticism and advice. We have many subscribers we respect and would consider their opinions heavily, and others we eyeroll at. If someone is always nagging and complaining, yes, they are not taken seriously or well liked. Who would like a person who is rude, name calls, tells us where our priorities need to be and shames us for not making the same decisions they would, tells us what we need to be doing & how we should be spending our time and money, never has anything productive or kind to say, ECT. And then gets mad and lashes out when we ignore them? No one. No one likes that type of behavior. Not in the real world, and not online. Consistent negativity is EWWWWW. You have to remember, even though you FEEL like you know a Content creator well based off of the videos you have seen, The Content Creator DOESNT KNOW YOU. You're just a name on a screen. And if that name is always popping up with a negative comment to follow - yeah we know. We see it. And so does everyone else. I'm not saying any of this singling YOU out. This is just a general Info FYI reply.. hope you are having a great day today 💚

Before you decide what to do about the overhang's watch some KZbin videos on how the pro's put's overhang's from the kickers. That will help with the stressed as how to put some ideal on how to do your overhang's from the kickers. Now when your ready to put the roof decking on you need to come up 6" with your OSB board making sure that you cut it at the angle of your existing roof and then make sure you lay your flashing along the seam to prevent leaking and riding out your existing roof when it rains. Good job y'all.
