You do some amazing work and make it look simple I find hidden tang knives to be very difficult. Great job good to see some new videos

Wow brother, those are great looking little carvers! Great steel choice for their purpose, and the curly maple handles with different finishes was a nice touch. I am reminded of, and love your simplistic style and approach to knife making. I tend to get too caught up in the "right" way to do this and do that and the "right" tool "needed" for this specific job, it can often take all the purity and fun out of the craft, and your vids tend to re-inspire me :) . It's great seeing you posting vids on YT again, Tim! I just now realized that I forgot to comment on your last razor vid, which was too fun to watch btw. That's about as good of a compliment a razor can get... from a barber who has been using them daily for years and years and doesn't get into all the hype of all the different steels to choose from etc. that we knife makers often tend to do, but he just knows from experience simply whether or not the edge, HT and geometry are just right, so congrats on that 😎👍. I feel bad that it's been so long since I've been in touch with you, on FB my page is always flooded with way too many posts to sift through so I never end up seeing probably 95 percent of them, plus I don't go on as much as I used to, so that's another reason I'm glad to see ya posting YT vids again. I hope you've been doing well my brother, life has been a bit complicated over here lately, but the Lord is my grace and strength. Keep up the great work man! 🙂👍

Hi Paul! It is so nice to hear from you, my friend. I appreciate your kind words and your observations. I am trying to do better about posting. I get so busy and it is hard to get clips for videos. My old faithful camera gave up the ghost and it is tougher to shoot with my phone. I need to get another one. I hope that you are doing well, brother and enjoying all of the Lord's kindness and love. Have a great rest of the week.

Thanks, Robert. It really is secure in there. The bottom rests on the bar of the vice and the sides grip it. I have never had a problem, but I do want to keep safe...

Tim, what is the Hitachi Blue #2 similar to? Why that choice for your carving knives. I buy my 1095 from NJ steel baron. God bless, Ray....Oklahoma
@SugarcreekForge8 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray. HB #2 has very high carbon (1.1). It gets very hard, and is tough and fine grained. It is easy to heat treat and very forgiving. I have nothing to back this technically, but to me it feels like 1095 with a finer grain, better edge retention, and toughness.

Where did you get blue #2? I can't find it anywhere in the states.

I got it from New Jersey Steel Baron. They imported a small batch.
