I hadn’t thought about doing it this way. I have been downloading ebooks from my library and recording my screen. I love screencastify.

I'm looking forward to using this tool! I am a reading specialist among a low-income population. Most of the parents have stretched their dollars for the technology and neglected to get the coursework books and literature for primary-secondary students. I have a digital camera and I'm raring to go. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm so glad that this tutorial helped give some ideas. It sounds like you have challenge but that it could be so rewarding! Have you used get epic before? It is a free digital resource for teachers and students and has 1000's of books in it's library.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you. I do have one question. I have taken photos of all the pages of the story book. Is there a way that you can add the images for the story reading rather than using PowerPoint?

Peaceful greetings. Thank you! Do you have the paid subscription?
@literally.audrey4 жыл бұрын
No I used it for free in the spring when they were giving educators free access. This fall I am mostly in person teaching so I don’t have the subscription currently.

@@literally.audrey Thank you! In order to use the editor feature, you have to pay now. I still think it’s worth it. I really appreciate your tutorial. I’ve been a screencastify queen. In peace

I want to record myself in the video with the pages of the book behind me (maybe in PPT). An that be done? I’ve seen it. I just don’t know how it’s done.

Hi Audrey: Just previewed your video--Beavers By Gail Gibbons - Non Fiction Read Aloud. I'm interested in knowing what you used to create the turning page animation. Was that in PowerPoint, too?
@literally.audrey3 жыл бұрын
That is actually the GetEpic.com animation. For that video I didn't have to make a powerpoint of the book because it was already online. I just chose my text from the get epic library and shared the computer tab that it was on. Super simple solution for sharing digital read alouds with your students!

Can you add background music to the video?

Great tutorial! I created my first read aloud, your tips were so helpful. I have a teacher who says she can't hear my audio in the video. It seems to be just her, any ideas for troubleshooting?

I'm so glad it was helpful to you! My guess is that the problem is on her computer if the sound is working for everyone else.

Hi Audrey I am so excited about starting this. I have a couple of questinos just to make sure I understood how to read the REad Aloud . So, when you show them the Power Point wi the text and pictures are you actually reading it live like normal just showing them the text as you go. I'm still trying to put together the video at the beginning when you talk to them a bit. Is the video just like an introduction? Thanks would sure appreciate it.
@literally.audrey4 жыл бұрын
Virginia Blain Hi Virginia, yes you can’t read it while showing your screen and screen cast defy will record your voice. It’s sort of like voice over
@literally.audrey4 жыл бұрын
Virginia Blain Also, yes the first little bit I show is kind of like an introduction. It also gives me a chance to go over any vocabulary words that I want them to know upfront and remind my students about anything I want them to do while listening.

Audrey Rae Hi are you able to put your video in a Google slide (PowerPoint) using it as a background so that you’re reading it but the pages are showing beside you or behind you does that make sense? Like your video has the slide as a background but they could still see you reading it and not just hear you
@literally.audrey4 жыл бұрын
momangel82 I’ve never done that, but I think it would work. When you’re done with your screen cast defy video it becomes a video on your Google Drive or you can download it to your computer. Then you should be able to put it inside your Google slide just like any other clip. If you try it, let me know how it works. It sounds like a great idea.

This was disappointing. I was disappointed to find out that you only get 10 free videos and then you have to pay. I thought you were going to demonstrate how you can highlight the words as we are reading. I want to be able to record my voice too which is great but I also want the words on the screen to highlight. I've already been using PowerPoint to teach so I could have used any program to record my screen essentially. This was a pretty long video and I got nothing out of it. I feel used.
