I feel like all great music is technically poppy. To me, “poppy” just means catchy and strong melody. Which is why it’s so easy to, for example, take a Katy Perry vocal melody and turn it into infinite amounts of genres. But, you can’t exactly do the same with a cannibal corpse vocal melody, (might be an extreme example but I think it gets to the point).

Hey bro, just discovered this channel! Well done that was sick as ☯️🙏🏼 I’m a guitar player who currently decided to transition into learning bass and drums and master ableton live. I’m still new in the process and haven’t been able to create my own music yet but your channel is the the example of why I’m going to work hard to achieve that! Did songwriting come more naturally to you when you felt you were in full control and had learnt everything including the production side?

@@randyhollandsworth626 Sorry. I should have been more specific. I use the Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi op amp pedal, nicknamed orange Pi because of its orange color. It creates a fuzz sound very close to what the smashing pumpkins were using in the 90s.

Great song, as always! I also would really like to see more insights on how you do your vocals since that's really what I struggle with most of the time. From what I've seen in your videos you seem to double track (not triple track) them. Do you use sth like Melodyne or is it "just" a clever use of reverbs to keep them in sync because whenever I double-track vocals and pan the tracks left and right, the differences in the performances are always so noticeable. Would love to hear about how you deal with that!
@bananalabs
@bananalabs Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the continued support, Ben! That’s a great question and something that I’d love to make some content on. They’re have been several viewers who are interested in my vocal process as well. I’d be more than happy to do more in depth content on my vocal process. All I do is try to get as close as I can to the overdubs, then add some compression, eq, saturation and I’ll top it off with reverb. That’s about all I do. Here and there I’ll decide to add a tremolo effect for movement.

would it be better to use DAW effects for guitar tone or a designated physical multi-fx pedal
@Bivuki777

If you ever want to be able to play it live, then you should go for a pedal board. If you don’t plan on doing that, a daw would be fine.

New to guitar and learning theory right now. You mentioned playing CmajorSus2 and AminorSus2. Aren't sus chords neither major or minor? Could you explain that?
@CasparLapthorne
@CasparLapthorne Жыл бұрын
You're right. You make a suspended chord by either lowering the minor 3rd of a chord by a semi-tone (creating a sus2 chord) or by rasing the major 3rd of a chord by a semi-tone (creating a sus4 chord). And so suspended chords are technically neither major nor minor. However you could might still choose to reference a sus chord as either major or minor just to indicate the key you're in. As every key has its respective major and minor chords, if you throw in enough suspenstions it could make the key seem pretty ambiguous. So if you're in the key of C you may just clarify that your C, F, and G chords are major chords even though you've replaced them with suspensions. Basically he's using suspensions and so eliminating the major or minor identifiers, but since he's remaining in a specific key centre, those chords still fill the major and minor roles of the key. Generally you don't see this too often, most of the time you just label a chord as either sus2 or sus4, but if you're used to referring to chords in a specific key by their major and minor variations then I guess you might label chords this way. Everyone just has their own habits and methods of memorising music theory. But yes. Suspended chords are neither major nor minor. But the chords they're built from have to be one or the other to begin with if you're remaining in a single key centre.
