Due to youtube constantly flagging my intro music, it had to be removed. I'm working on a new, completely original, theme song. -Steve

Great info man! I wonder if multiple holes in the spoon would work to? Thanks for the info Steve!

I do miss the banjo intro but a good video. I am sure you only covered the high points of what you know on this. But the variance of shot sizes is interesting. Thanks.

If you placed the spoon about six feet over the pan as you poured, would that give the lead more time to form into individual droplets on the fall to the water? Someone once told me that's how they make production shot so I wonder if it would help?

would have been nice to see how it patterned to show the variation from commercial shot and no holes, (hopefully).

Cool idea, however I would have sorted the shot a little more than that and tried to have as many of the same size shot as I could. I can't imagine your patterns are very consistent when using the varied sized shot that you did. Shooting a water bottle is one thing, but on something like a moving game bird, you need consistent patterns so as to not create holes and gaps that the game could fly right through and get away unscathed.

Interesting idea. I make "cube shot." I pound a few lead balls or a section of bar lead flat to the desired thickness, then cut it one way then the other, makes cube shot. It was common in Colonial New England. Because the cubes aren't aerodynamic, they are a very short range affair, but I've taken a few squirrels with it. MiF

I really enjoyed that video. I've thought till my ears smoked tryin to figure a way of making shot cause that stuff is expencive in a store. You just showed me how to save a bunch of money . That shot you made on that water bottle or whatever it was woulda made meat if it was a critter.

There is a cool shot tower near me. it shut down in1860 and is now a state park. the shot fell 60 feet into water. It was built near lead mines.

f60w I never heard of a shot tower until you mentioned it here. I looked it up. Wow, what a really cool part of ammo making history! Would've loved to see the process in action. It's really nice that some still exist today. Hope to visit one soon. Thanks!

Nice of someone to show that each shot is not going to be perfectly round. Those odd shaped shot do a lot of damage and work just as well
