you can add puffed rice cereal to the short loads and build up the height. Or maybe use an over shot card over the end.

Just bought a trip wire 12 ga alarm for my house cause I had a bear problem but love the video. Been dying to learn how to make blanks, I do reload as well

Thanks for making this GREAT video. I’m thinking about making blanks for WW2 reenacting. Can I use a felt wad instead of plastic or maybe leave out the wad and just pack with powder and flax seed? Thanks, Steve.

Hello, what would you suggest for making a blank with colored powder for a gender reveal? I am very familiar with loading ammunition for handguns and rifles ( I work for an ammunition manufacturer) but am unsure about how I could make a gender reveal using a 12g shotgun blank. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Great question. I would think ground chalk might work? Or that would be the first thing I’d try. Cap with a cardboard disc before sealing.

can you simply take the pallets out of a shell to make a blank?

Yes but without adding a buffer it won’t be very effective. By adding the flak seed it causes enough back pressure to make a bang. Your primer will pop and the gunpowder will just burn. So you will get a pop sizzle by just taking the bb’s out.

It is a MEC 600. They are not very expensive used if you can find one. Otherwise New they are about $500

There is a bar and 2 bushings inside of the press. The number I read off was the charge bar. I would have to take the unit apart to see that the bushing numbers are. The next time I reload I’ll follow up with that information.
