What if you don’t have a print to mold? Can I carve out a mold to shape I want then mold it?

Sure is! I used SmoothSil 940, which is a food grade silicone material.

Does this work with a resin printer or is there a fear of contamination ?

As long as the print has been fully cured and properly prepared, you should be OK!

For personal use no-one will bat an eye. For commercial use you do have to file paperwork that it is food grade safe (you can prove it), otherwise you pay fines with the food administration. Even the silicone in silicone molds has to be food-grade approved.
