A quick tip for your test screws. Rub the screw threads against a candle. The wax on the screws will make for easier removal.

Thumbs up ! While watching I came up with an easier way to do the lids. And since you asked ! I'd cut the inside snug fit,then attach it to a the top blank. Then trace the top to the outside ,then cut it. I love the idea and the look. Great craftsmanship ! I'm inspired to try the wood species I've got growing:alder,maple and poplar. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely brilliant videos. I also admire how you detail and show how to do things. You are a master craftsman. I’m going to make a walking stick and shrink pot. Thank you so much for showing how to do it.

After my knee replacement I get enjoyment watching your videos ..by the way my holly stick turned out very well...you keep up the good work....pat..irl

Nice one Pat, I found you always have to cut Holly really thick, let it dry and then pare it down to the finished diameter otherwise it splits very badly.

I just found your channel and need to say just how impressed I am with your talent. Your photography, thumb sticks, walking sticks, paintings just make me want to sit in on a few of your sessions just to learn from you. I have subscribed to many, many channels, but you are the first I have left a comment for. Love your work. Keep the faith strong.

I watched this part two first, then found part one easily. Great how to video buddy, thanks for sharing with us. I'm definitely going to get my 7 year old grandson to help me make one of these. Teaching kids how to do wood working teaching them a life of making anything they want to when they are older.

Brilliant mate, thats what its all about. Get the kids away from their screens and get them using their hands ,their imaginations and get em outside!! Opens up a whole new world👍🏼👌

Could you do a nest box in this sort of style as well?
@simoneardley2 жыл бұрын
Its possible but a lot of work for a nest box 👍🏼

I wonder if heavy duty carpet tape would work? Probably not, since it still requires glue before the dowels are inserted.

try putting a block of wood inside the pot at the depth you want the inner lid to go to then you can position the top outer lid on exactly where you want it without moving the inner lid, as in if you want the inner lid one mm above the top of the pot cut that block of wood lets say a pot with an inside depth of say six inches old school cut the piece of scrap wood six and one sixteenth inch long put it inside and work from that use the band saw to get a level edge on the scrap wood
@simoneardley3 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of that Albert, I'll give it a go. Cheers.

@simoneardley3 жыл бұрын
Ya know I'm not sure Willem, if you make the base a real good fit I see no reason why they shouldnt be able to hold water after a coating of linseed oil too 👍🏼
