In the unassuming heart of Pune's old city lanes is a home where time takes on a whole new meaning. This is the home and workshop of Aditya Sambhare the only man in India to create skeletal watches from scratch. Here is an insight into the world of this time keeper.

What an amazing portrait of an enthusiast watchmaker. Beautiful camera work, too. I love the concept of letting him talk, answering unasked questions (and sometimes struggling to come across over the volume of the otherwise well-chosen background track ;) ). Hi, Aditya, nice to see you here, too :) Zs

I think the concept of the raw beauty in the machine is a brilliant one. I think your story is a fantastic one. Love the watches. You have your own legacy in what you produce and why, and all the great artists of the last 2 millennia and more would have had the same ups and downs and self doubt. Keep up the great work if nothing for your own inner happiness. also, never would i see a watch, hand made by an Indian as anything other that a triumph for horology and artisan watch making👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It's our nation where we have so many productive and creative people but our country never gives them their actual value they should get. His work and enthusiasm can be seen in his talking but our India and the govt just doesn't want to give them the actual opportunity they could have.

@@manavalanp2123 yes that's the saddest thing, but there's no other way, as from foreign brands not only people are getting competitive product but also of good quality alongside years of more modern technological experience, which people could get from here as well but our nation lacks in that sector majorly. Think about HmT, could be the giant but lost its glory. Titan, now all movement as of China based though it is branded as miyota but all those are imported from China directly with little to no changes, yet price touching the roof. Allwyn, could be the second based mechanical but lost its game..and long gone. All we now have quartz and those mistakes of the digital market, the smart watch.

@@aperson9375 You have the wrong attitude towards life. Govt. is not for these things, amazing that even after 75 years of democracy educated people like you have no idea what a govt. is for. This man is content with his creation and art, its the society that values art not the govt. We as a society do like art, its innate in our culture, but mechanical art is not our cup of tea yet, probably it may change in the future but that is not the job of the govt. one bit. The man is happy, he is not asking for a dole out.

@@user-vy5uy9fo8p yes, just because of this kind of art, the China today is touching it's glory. This kind of art which could be appreciated and could be brought before public, but that requires aspirations and entrepreneurship thinking, which in our country never is an important thing even after 75 years of independence. Such ignorant mindset is what has made our country just a country for job seekers not of job creators. Every country has potential but just because of the mindset of controllers, the nation can go either top or towards down. I can clearly understand what you are saying, about your perception towards this, but if the government could appreciated such art in your words, could be utilised by other companies in India rather than importing from outside. Get educated, how because of our ignorant mindset of the people of our country so many potential opportunities we have already lost. I am not saying global business shouldn't be brought here but think of such if we had the same tech today which really we had during 1930 and how such tech slowly engulfed in favour of some others which were not of Indian soil..while such techniques could be flourished to make better opportunities for Indian young people and entrepreneurs. But no our mindset still lies in the kind that such opportunities we are still think as art..wow. Japan, you know I believe, the Seiko is not that old, the citizens once every people could buy for rs 50 to 100, today their good products is out the reach of normal people, why such things has happened is because such nation and their governments knew to preserve their own home born techniques and their people. Our country could also do it but nah... We kept on thinking them as art rather than a great opportunity for people and new business. Keep in mind, great ideas comes from art and the love towards that art, not by ignoring it. The success follows the same.. which in our country most people are lacking of..and hunting for a decent job, rather than creating it. It's all perception and nothing else.
