Theirs no end to this man's talent, not only does he make them but he shoots them as well and fairly brilliant at that, I'd say probably the best shot in the world, Outstanding!!!

I think a mechanical spider put a web on Bill's drill press! I use a table router myself for better control. I begin my roundover bits at 1\8", move to 3\8" for inside the forks, parts of the handle, or whatnot, and finish with a 3\4" for the thumb curve, insets, and forefinger indent. Yes, there is some sanding needed for the jump to 3\4, but less work than going through 7\16, 5\8, or whatever.

That's crazy you make such great works of art using that old rattle trap of a drill press. That puts alot of equipment to shame.

awesome - very nice job! (on some other video - where you cut the bands - instead of marking where to cut .. I thought something like a guide - just like on 21:40 could be used. Then you could just push the bands to there and cut .. making all almost perfectly the same - with less hassle - and no need to find matching pairs afterwards. Yeah well such 'guides' are generally awesome to use wherever possible, isn't it . Easy and highly precise)

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Hays. Awesome video. I'm curious why you don't use a blank slingshot on top of the one you're making when you do the initial straight cut with the router. It seems like it would speed things up. Then again, with your experience, you're probably just as fast with just the paper as a guide.

Bill I love your setup, Tell yu what I know how that glass board is made, and I happen to be a fiberglass laminator by trade, plus I make my own slingshots, all you need is the glass the resin and a press and you can make the glass as thick or as thin as you want, but I make my slingshots out of HDPE its better its harder and its less harmful to the lungs, all those plastic milk bottles don't go to waste and all you need is an oven a mould and some clamps and you got your board made 4 moulds 400x400 and as soon as there cold you start cutting, don't know if you have tried HDPE before but it works real good for what I'm making and they shoot as good as the ones your making, something to consider.

I've made a couple from retired playground equipment (green) and they are majestically strong; will barely show a fork hit!

When your using the flush trim bit what are you having the bearing ride against? I've seen where ppl tape a template to the material. How are you getting it from a rough cut to perfect? Thanks

That looks like making knives lol. I wonder if you should try a 72 inch belt sander with a 1 inch or smaller wheel. I can really hog out some handle material with mine. Did you make those sanding whip type sand paper wheels?
