The blocks like you did are great. Most new codes require the openings under each stair to be covered with boards as well. Doing that will greatly increase the stability on a rotting deck like this. And most importantly, seal and or paint. People think treated boards don’t need to be sealed. If you leave that would unsealed and not painted it won’t last long, especially in the south.
