Stellar work! I like how you showed how to recover from 3 "accidents" and continued on. Too many of us decide to throw in the towel when things don't go the way we want them to. Keep at it! (Both the awesome work, and the fantastic videos.)

I'm a tough critic; I find fault in nearly every KZbinr that I watch (it's a character flaw, I know), but I really appreciate your videos. You're not phoney, you're not begging for likes, and I love the subtle humor. You remind me of my dad's friends who are just good, genuine dudes who have been through life, seen plenty of shit, and still choose to have a positive outlook. I look up to people like that and I'm afraid they're becoming more and more rare.

Man you have a awesome approach to teaching your techniques. Not only does your work look amazing but Morgan Freeman had better look out for you doing voice overs. I’ve been in the media industry for over two decades and you have a rock star like voice. Keep up the great work.

This comment means more to me than you could imagine! I feared that folks would think I sounded like cornbread and that made it difficult when I did my voiceovers, not having a ton of confidence when I made them. I sincerely appreciate the kind words! Thank you so much for watching!

Awesome results! Thanks for posting this and thanks for your story. BTW, I almost always use downcut endmills. They don't pull up on the workpiece and they leave the top cut edges clean.

I just discovered this site today and am awestruck at the things you're able to get this machine to do. I do have a question about your waste board. I plan on using a dog hole system on my machine utilizing wedges, once I get it (long wait time = learning patience) and am curious about your layout configuration. Also, what changes (if any) would you make the next time you make one?

Thank you! Regarding the waste board, this particular version was after trial and error over time. Previous waste boards included threaded blind nuts and T-Track as well as the dog holes. It looked quite impressive, but I found that for the type of stuff that I do that I used only the Dog Holes 90% of the time and the threaded holes and T-track sat untouched. So I started cutting just Dog Holes for simplicity and less cost. Over time, with more understanding and experience, I have learned a little grace and I am getting pretty good and not cutting into the the waste board so this particular iteration has lasted me over a year without replacing, and I expect several more months of life out it before I replace it. Just having the dog holes and wooden wedges has served me well, and if I have to cut small or thin stuff that the wedges don't hold well, I just use double sided carpet tape to secure it down and it works very, very well. But when I do get around to it, the only thing I would change is to add a square pocket in the bottom left hand corner to house my Tool Setter so it would be recessed below the surface of the bed. Right now I just sit it on the top surface of the bed and it's prone to getting knocked off or just get in the way of what I am doing. I want it to have a more permanent place to live. Other than that, I am very happy with it. Much cheaper to use scrap wood and PVC than it is to buy all those fancy clamps, which I have used in the past. But I like the wooden wedges much more. Not only cheaper but also quicker to setup. Thank you for watching!
