Im a white girl from Ohio. I went to culinary school and while there I cooked at a tiny bar in a Cape Verdean neighborhood. It was bar food and mostly I cooked hundreds of pounds of chicken wings to perfection day in and day out but on Sundays they started to do a thing called soul food Sundays. One of the bartenders who is Cape Verdean taught me to make her version of collard greens and its how I make them still. I use a smoked Turkey leg. I think I do a pretty food job!

But she is now cooking for her community who are dealing with food insecurity and she is cooking up and serving food to thousands of ppl and families every week or every day... not sure which. Anyways she is a sweet, hardworking, and very generous woman and we ALL should be as chef Millie is and step in and do our part to help those who need it using our gifts and talents!
