This looks really cool! I’m thinking of making it with leather instead of foam, how would you go about it if you were to make it with leather? Would you do the same steps or would you do something differently?
@sayakat2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think with leather it's actually a pretty similar process. Barge is usually used in leather work, the same as foam work. The finishing/painting/tooling would be different, but the layering I think is the same or very close.

Hi! I'm working on my own breastplate and was wondering now that we have more updated references, did you also find that there aren't any gold squares on her left side? I see them on the right, but it almost looks like just a green section on the other side. Wanted to make sure we all came to the same consensus. :P

Quick question - Is it absolutely necessary to make the "doink, doink" sounds when texturing with the Dremel bit? One of these days, I need to play around with my stash of foam (TNTCosplay foam of course) to see the different kinds of textures possible with foam. Thanks for the video.

Hat about the back? How do we implement it without the back to our cosplays? I’m curious, since she has what looks like a corset back to her garb/armor.
@sayakat3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! You could add strapping to the sides and shoulders like I suggest at the end of the build process or you could build a separate back piece to attach the front to. Since she does have a cape/cloak to the costume, the back isn't totally necessary if you are wearing that piece as well, especially if you use foam for the front, it'll be much more comfortable that way. If you are going for exactly screen accurate though, you would want to use leather instead of foam.

Hi! this is really great but i have some questions, i dont have an heatgun and im trying to use an hairdryer but idk how to do it so the foam stay rounded, any suggestions? also can i use another type of glue? I read i could use hotglue but i dont want to ruin my piece. and lastly what kind of primer can i use? im sorry if you answered any of these in your video but yeah thanks!
@sayakat3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Unfortunately a hairdryer doesn't get hot enough to heat shape foam correctly. And yes you can use hot glue! I use plastidip as primer but you can use all sorts of things like modpodge, hexflex, flexbond, etc....
@lpssilverdiamond37263 жыл бұрын
Is it cheaper to make this or cheaper to buy it from you?
@sayakat3 жыл бұрын
It depends on if you have the time for it tbh. The materials aren't too expensive but it takes awhile to put together, prime, paint, and strap up. So if you feel like spending money to save yourself time, it's more cost effective to pay someone else to make it, but if you have the time, it will be cheaper because you aren't paying for labor costs.

I'm making this for my daughter, she's super excited and I'm super nervous because I've never made anything like this before. I saw in the pattern 9a has all the rectangles for the gold details but there aren't any for the opposite side should I cut 9a twice? Sorry for the weird question I'm SUPER new at anything like this 😬
@sayakat2 жыл бұрын
When I made the video there were very few references, and the pattern has changed since to have those two sections be different. I'd say cut once, but if you interpret it how you want, it's totally fine.

Hi! What size paper should I print your pattern on? Thanks.

It's designed to be printed as a "poster" so you need adobe acrobat to print, in the print menu select the poster print option and it'll tile it onto whatever size paper you have

Yes and to help it hold its shape. If you don't have a heat gun, you can still make this particular piece, but it won't fit to the body well without heat shaping, and heat treating the surface before primer also helps with the priming and painting process.
