Beautiful demonstration. Would the HNT Gordon Dado plane be able to do this too with an external fence? And say if I wanted a 1/2 inch tenon, could I use the 1/4 Dado to make 2 passes each time?

Lovely plane! how do you ensure you maintain the correct angle on the skew blade when sharpening?

That plane looks like something out of Dune.

I know this all about doing things a specific way, "by hand" or "with craftsmanship" but at a certain point, (usually after the age of 50) I tend to learn to work smarter, not harder, which is why I use a table saw to make all the cuts in the time it takes you to gang those boards together on that workbench. FYI, the craftsmanship of a table saw tenon is identical. AND I won't have to true up the ends, so- I'll be done before you begin!

If you really want fast and efficient, then there's no point in making anything, just buy it from the store. Why waste money on machines? Some people enjoy the process, and are not necessarily just focused on an end product.

For me it's far more about the journey than the destination. Training your eye and hands is rewarding itself.

@@GeorgeLowrey That is called "Hobby".
@GeorgeLowrey3 жыл бұрын
@@chrisgriffith1573 No, it's called an art, just as is using a canvas and oils to paint an image that could be much more easily and accurately produced with a camera.

@@GeorgeLowrey I AM an artist, and I primarily use a table saw for making cradled panels to paint on. So your analogy is flawed, because the time I spend on a painting will translate into how much I make on it, time is money, If you fiddle until its done, That's a HOBBY. You can call it art, and sure- it falls into that category, but you won't make ends meet unless you grab more than a couple grand on this month's work... try selling it for that, go ahead, you might be that good, but I doubt it.
