Thank you! Yes I’m obsessed with printing on the Gelli plate. So much fun. The options are endless. So I have an endless stack of papers for collage... 😅. Lots of love from Sweden 💖🙋♀️🇸🇪

Thanks for sharing! Now I have to ask, do you actually make things with the papers? Or just keep them because they are so beautiful? LOL! (Guilty here!)
@lillemorlagergren8770 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking. I do frame some of them, for local exhibitions. Also I’m making notebooks, and fill them with prints mixed with plain papers. I have just started to make collage on canvases, so I’m really a newbie.

This is really inspiring! We just started using the round Gelli plate, and it was hard to stop! I like the idea of quickly creating your own marks with a simple tool. And the small papers were also different. Thanks!

Ooh, I didn't know a round gelli plate existed! I may have to invest in one LOL!

Thanks, Tamara! It was fun watching you demonstrate the gelli plate. I love your idea of using the catalyst wedge to remove paint from the gelli plate---I may try that on the surface of a painting as well.
@tamaragrandart2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I've done that on many paintings. It's a great way to carve through wet paint and reveal the layers below! If you have a silicone shaper, they also work well for this xx

Hi Tamara, I just found your channel. I love the work you did here. I am a fan of black and white. I worked with carving linoleum since back in the early 70's. I purchased my first gelli plate for a gift to myself, and for my adult daughter who loves to craft with me. I have dabbled in everything over the years but never tried this. I still have my old brayer and I'm sure your videos will help a lot! I am hoping to create papers for journaling, art cards and greeting cards. Happy New Year, and thanks for the inspiration! Cath from east coast Connecticut.

Hi Cath. Thanks so much for reaching out to chat! I love my gelli plate and it just so happens that my new year's project will include the creating of lots of new papers. I'll film some of it and share as I go. Happy New Year!

Thanks Kathy! I love the randomness the gelli plates produces. Sometimes you get a little treasure that you want to keep as a painting all its own!

Hi Tamara! I love how your using the wedge to remove paint! I use masks that I cut out of thin cardboard…your technique has a similar effect, but less controlled. Something I’m always looking for! Have you tried pulling your prints with tissue paper or deli paper? They go almost completely transparent when you collage them over a painted surface. 💗

You’re* 😁

I've tried adding cut out shapes before as well and I agree, a little less control is great! Plus, the wedge is less messy than cardboard LOL! And yes! I have boxes of prints on wet strength tissue paper of various transparencies. I love the looks you can create with it! Thanks for stopping by xx

These are great prints. I have seen a few artists demo the gelli plate, but nobody mentions how to clean it at the end of a print session. Is it difficult? What does cleaning the plate entail? Id like to understand before i buy one for myself. Thank you. Ill be looking forward to seeing more of your art.

Thanks for watching and getting in touch! I struggled with cleaning my gelli print as well. The advice I had was to clean it with warm water and a bit of soap. That never worked very well. After some searching, the best way I've found to clean it has two steps; (1) when you're all done pulling prints, put a thin layer of white paint on, press a piece of paper over and leave it to dry for a few minutes before pulling the paper up (this will pull up most of the underbits of colour), (2) apply a bit of hand sanitizer to the plate and gently wipe it up with a lint free paper towel (I use blue shop cloths). Takes a couple of passes, but always works. And remember to store the plate in the original packaging. Keeps it moist. Have fun!
