Nice image, good job! Little tip from a fellow architect: always turn your assets (people, trees, vehicles) into 'smart objects' so that you can alter the size afterwards without changing the pixel quality. Usually you'll never nail the image in 1 take and requests for change comes later (client demands, colleagues or yourself) and than it is nice that you can reposition and rescale the assets without any hustle 😉

Great tip Bastiaan! Smart objects are a must for a healthy and nondestructive workflow. 🙌

i think that a good way to remove the extra details from the line drawing is to export from SketchUp as an AutoCAD file, clean it, and the save it as a 2010 dwg file, then open in illustrator with the AutoCAD layers to fix the line weights.

I have a real problem presenting analysis, which I need to include in a portfolio application. I've always struggled to present context analysis, mobility, land use etc in a cohesive way that works with the overall presentation of a buildings plans, elevations and 3D perspectives. Would you ever do a KZbin video on that or refer me to books or blogs please?
@LearnUpstairs3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jo Jo, we do have a video that talks a bit about site analysis, but this topic is something I want to explore more eventually. It takes an extra effort to make something unique and that doesn't look like a generic analysis full of premade icons and too flashy-looking arrows. I'll add this topic to the list of future videos. You can watch this one in the meantime: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKXaY6yoiNtlq9E

Hello, I have a question: At 1:51 you have the cut below grade showing the structure etc. and at 1:54 you filled it in. How did you show that? Thanks in advance!
@LearnUpstairs3 жыл бұрын
When you use the section tool through the model, it gives you an option to show or hide the cut fill. I just hadn't activated, but before exporting I made it visible. This button is locate under the section toolbar. Back in the days Sketchup didn't have this option, but I think from Sketchup 2018 and onwards it now has. If you're using other 3D software, there's most likely that feature as well, but if not you can always do it by hand later in Illustrator or Photoshop.

Have you used Procreate for your images, if so then Do you prefer Photoshop or Procreate,
@LearnUpstairs3 жыл бұрын
Never used Ipad Pro to create architectural images, but my concern would be that I'd have to rely most of the process on the Apple Pencil. And a big part of visualization, for me, comes from the 3D and rendering. It's a combination of all. I'm not sure, just throwing some thoughts out there 😅 would have to use it consistently to have a proper opinion
@mohamedmekawi63423 жыл бұрын
@@LearnUpstairs I really do appreciate your work and I really think if you get the hang of procreate you could do some amazing work, I also like to show you a work of mine I did on procreate and would like your feedback on how I can take my work to the visualization phase, do you have a work email

In photoshop the shift to maintain proportions is no longer necessary.
@LearnUpstairs3 жыл бұрын
You're right Robin, after some Photoshop update that "constraint proportions" is always activated. But personally, I like to deactivate it and hold shift to resize proportionally. Because also sometimes I need to resize loosely too. Maybe it's because my brain is used to doing this way haha

@LearnUpstairs3 жыл бұрын
For sure! Pretty much any render engine can generate clay renders. But also you can do this without any renderer, as the 3D software can give you some shadow information. It won't look all soft and smooth, but instead you'll get a hard shadow. It's not better or worse, just another style/result
