There's this old software that i'm still using called Indigo Renderer. Unfortunately, the devs aren't updating the software anymore. Despite that, it never failed me to produce a photorealistic render.

What balance do you suggest we have between Rayon and BIM software like CAD or Revit during a project ? What stages would you use each for example ?

If one design can be rendered with thesame temperature, time, colour and whatever, one can be able to tell which one looks better. But giving to different artist to make totally different designs aint gonna cut it.

I do professional ArchViz for a living +7 years, but I'im doing 3D for more than 15 years. Designer with Master Degree. Blender (Cycles) is my tool of choice in the last 12 years. I'm a very advanced user and I'm still learning Blender! If you aim to be an expert, the learning curve is very high and you will never achieve the Nirvana. The two main reasons for that is because 1. Blender is a very complete and advanced tool with huge deep in ArchViz and other areas and 2. Blender can be overwhelming with a lot going on with updates. It updates very often and with it comes new features, new approaches, etc, so it's hard to keep up! Blender is NOT FREE. The tool per se is, of course. But if you really want to do it professionally it's virtually impossible to avoid buying a lot of libraries of materials, models, etc. and addon's to expand even more complexity and, paradoxically, quality of life. The budget of that is around 1000$, but can go easily over that. And Blender is "free" because a lot of people pay Blender Foundation in donations. Otherwise a tool like that would never be free for sure. Blender is not much of a "point, click and drag" software. Shortcuts are KING in Blender. You will need to memorize more that 30 shortcuts to have a decent control of all workflow. Seems scary to newcomers, but when you master it, you will get why is better. Last but not least, one of the most incredible points of Blender is, due it's philosophy of open source and strong community, is very easy to find in the internet tutorials, asking for tips and advices, etc.

Im using both Vray and Lumion, if I have plenty of time for editing to post prod , I will choose Vray, but if i have limited time and output requires by not too picky client - ill go for Lumion.
@JanasZoro12 күн бұрын
Well we have completely missed the real time (the future of archviz), which is the best way to show a project to the client and the time of rendering (good luck with vray). This is why Twinmotion wins.

A very detailed and sophisticated comparison. Unfortunately, I've only just discovered the article, so it's no longer up to date. I have worked with all the programmes in your comparison over the last few years. With more or less success/enjoyment. You are right about most of the conclusions. The most important realisation is of course the individual application and expectation. I have been working mainly with Twinmotion for some time now and am now very satisfied. The software is fast, relatively reliable and innovative. However, many of the things you rightly criticised have improved since the last version. I think that the Twinmotion team is very responsive to the needs of users. Version 2024.Preview really does offer almost everything you need for "reasonable" rendering. If it stays that way, it will also be free of charge (up to 1 million sales). In any case, your contribution is very competent and helpful. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

@skypilotace15 күн бұрын
I think it would have been better to use the exact same model for each engine in order to compare the results. Getting different artists to use different models, in different engines is too distracting. There is no consistent standard by which to judge them. I need a direct, side-by-side comparison to determine the pros and cons of each renderer. And it is very annoying when some producers of these "comparison videos" do not actually commit to giving an opinion or develop a rating scale. People's opinions aside, there will always be a standard by which a professional eye can determine which renderer produces the most realistic imagery.

What laptop specs do you recommend to be able to run all this and Adobe, sketchup etc without lagging? Tike to buy a new one but I'm so lost!
@LearnUpstairs15 күн бұрын
You can find the system requirements for D5 on their website. But what I usually suggest at the moment is this: For a real-time engine the most important part is the GPU (graphics card). You need at least 6GB of VRAM to run these engines smoothly. Obviously huge files are still going to suffer a bit. So for example, RTX 3060 or above / RTX 4060 or above. It’s important to remember that a laptop with the same specs as a desktop will still be slower due to the size and cooling capabilities. Then you need to be using SSD instead of HD. But all laptops nowadays already come with this better type of storage. I’d say at least 1 TB, but if possible go for 2 TB. In terms of RAM (or also called memory), I recommend at least 16 GB. But for me personally it’s always at least 32 GB for really intensive Photoshop work. And then lastly a CPU (processor). There are no specific requirements here, but the laptops in the market right now with the graphics card I mentioned already come with a powerful processor. I’ve had a good time using Lenovo’s gaming line of laptops. But at the time I’ve switched to a desktop for a more powerful setup. I hope that helps! 😁

Hello Oliver, the video is really nice and successful. The main thing I'm stuck on is that the friend who prepared Corona could not render correctly due to his lack of knowledge and experience. Corona is a valuable rendering engine that produces very high quality work and is used by top-tier visualization agencies. Next time, please do these works with artists who are experienced in their fields. Thanks very much for the video. ☺
