Idea...Heavy earrings sell well when marketed as ear weights- used for stretching ear lobes..and people with that particular style of piercing often have a hard time finding cool earrings to wear in their lobes, or threaded through their flared tunnels. So that may be a niche for you for some of these styles that you're worried about weight, and then you can sell some of those rad designs you already put so much time, effort, money into!

Steve, thanks for the videos about texturing wax. The wide ring on your thumb has a subtle random texture that I have been trying to figure out how to replicate. Can you tell me how it is done? Jeff

I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Ive never put the wax in water, but just heated with my hand. I try and never cast at a thickness less than 21 to 22. I start w 16 or 18 gauge. I use a sandblasting substrate and sandblast my own drawings in glass and then press the wax. I need a new substrate though, becaue glass chips. Any ideas on a sandblastable medium that won't melt? 😂 Jewelry is so fun. I like how you find cheaper alternatives. 😊

Hey! Thanks for the feedback! Im trying to visualize your sandblasting process for lost wax casting... It sounds like you make a drawing, transfer that to glass, sandblast the glass and then press warm wax into the glass and use the wax to cast with? is this correct?
@Countrycharm173 ай бұрын
@SquishyMit Yep! I used to sandblast gemstone pendants and sell the necklaces at craft fairs. Not a bad gig! I now am hooked on the endless possibilities of lost wax casting. You can find my tutorials by googling terra rustica jewelry sandblast. I'm on the hunt for a better substrate to sandblast for wax! Something heat resistant. I will be following along on your creative journey!
