MAKING THE BEST OF A MILESTONE BIRTHDAY | The Positano Diaries EP 89

In Italy an 18th birthday is a huge deal. Usually big parties are held and everyone dresses up. But in these times of lockdown and restricitons it would be impossible to hold such an event.
So for Skyes birthday we just made it the best we could. Lots of balloons, lots of cake (to be shared out to family and friends the next day and also to be eaten by us for the next 5 days!) Lots of silver streamers, music and silly hats and sunglasses.. It wasn't what she had dreamed of but it was the best we could do and we all had fun.

My Dad's parents were raised in Austria and Italy - grandmom was Italian and Pop was German and their families moved to Austria - Salzburg, Grandmom cooked German for Pop but also Italian - taught my mother different dishes and also Mom made her own noodle pasta and Spaetzle - Nocla dropped dumplings - they were hard not soft and used in stews or with fried potatoes with cooked cabbage - very good. I'm second generation on Dad's side and love films made in Italy and Austria. I enjoy the pasta meals you all make - very simple yet very filling - til later MLA

I’m laughing about your “manure” timing. I live in Pennsylvania in farming area. The farmers ALWAYS spread the field with manure in the spring and fall - and it always seems to be just before we have company as well. Love watching you.

Carlo we absolutely understand and appreciate the time it takes to make such vlogs and how impossible it would be to answer everyone’s comments. I think we are all lucky that we can share a little bit of Positano and get to share some of your lovely family time. Even seeing the lovely sunshine of a beautiful day cheers me up and reminds me that I will hopefully have the sun on my face again soon when I can travel again.
