This will probably get buried, but I used to manage a BK. The one thing I always prided myself on was making burgers that looked like they do in the menu pics. I wasn't as fast as the guys who usually worked the board, but my sandwiches looked better and by default tasted better because I took a little extra time to make sure they came out right. If BK slowed down a little, their sandwiches would be so much better.

I grew up in the 1960s and my mother had a French fry cutter. It made really thick-cut sticks of potato that she would fry in Crisco in an electric skillet on the kitchen counter. We'd eat them with ketchup. I don't remember her freezing them first. I really liked them. I don't know if I had a restaurant fry until a McDonald's opened in our town a few blocks away in 1966. Everybody was excited to try their 15-cent hamburgers. I didn't think their French fries were as good as my mother's. A year or two later an A&W opened a few blocks in the other direction. I thought their French fries were better than McDonald's. And they had great root beer.

There are 2 key features that are unique to the whopper. The large diameter, FLAME BROILED beef patty, and the matching diameter sesame seed bun. Everything else on the whopper is standard burger fare. The original whopper features the flame broiled patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo and ketchup. Because of the flavorfull flame broiling, I believe the original whopper stands tall on its own merit without all kinds of extras, including cheese, that other burgers seem to require. The homemade burger in this video may indeed be a tasty burger, but it's definitely NOT a homemade whopper. It is a pan fried double patty smash burger with mustard garlic flavored mayo, mustard again separately (a traditional whopper is mustardless), strange thin, stringy raw onions( these are great for sauteeing but present a completely different crunch and texture than a traditional whopper). I don't understand making custom buns that are not a large diameter to fit the patty, as is a whopper trademark, either. I know people load up their wh

I know you made it your way, but I might have to disqualify you Joshua. You did not charbroil the burger patties which BK has been doing forever. I dunno if this would help your french fries, but B.K have salt in the oil that they cook their (straight from frozen) fries in. Years ago when I worked there in N.Z, if someone asked for 'no salt' on their fries we would have to tell them that there's already salt on them because of the oil- but that we can leave off adding salt after cooking. Wether or not this affects the cooking temp and aids the crunch factor though, not sure? Cheers for the vids though- learning heaps since we've discovered this channel 😊
