I'm trying to improve my sculpting skills, so I decided to do it on camera. Here I'm sculpting and texturing the martian from Mars Attacks! And I really think this ended up being my best sculpt to this day!!

What an absolute blast from the past. I was watching an episode of vfx artists react, and they were talking about this movie too. Which made me really wanna see an updated version, and then you make this! 😅 As always a pleasure to watch and learn bro💪🏽👊🏽.

It's funny cuz I started working on this before that episode and then I watched it too which made me wonder if we all saw some video that came out at that time that reminded all of us of that movie subconsciously. I put the project aside tho for other projects before jumping back into it. But yes would be actually funny to recreate some of the scenes with my own vfx touch

It's interesting to know your experience in the programs. What courses did you take to learn ZBrush, Cinema 4D?

Literally just watched free tutorials on youtube, in some extreme cases I read the program's manual. But yeah mostly just youtube videos. There's a lot of great material out there! That's why I started this channel, to give back some knowledge. Free knowledge on KZbin has changed my life!

@@NewPlastic i haven't been practicing for a while now but seeing what you do is giving me motivation 😁. I do use zbrush and c4d thats something we have in common. I would like to learn blender it has more effects and what not without having to by plugins but dam the ui is different so much shit to remember 😅. What rendering engine do you use?

Amazing Stuff!! Those finale renders. Damn! The head looks like it has quite a dense mesh in substance or is that also surface detail through textures? And i would love to know how long this thing took you in total?

I know right! I was hype at the end, last Saturday I was at a party and I was literally showing everybody that animation cuz I was so hype haha fuck I was probably so annoying In Substance I sometimes work on decimated models if it's an organic model like this one, so the head mesh has probably around 150k polys. But in c4d i work with a lowpoly version of a few thousand polys. And as far as how much time, the overall time recorded is about 16 hours, I would add a few more hours of off camera work, including the gun modeling and texturing too which was a separate project, I would say just over 20 hours probably? Which looking at it now seems crazy fast compared to my first projects, the Clicker project I worked on took me way over 30 hours probably closer to 40

Nah not a fully detailed tutorial, unfortunately I can't even see how to make a tutorial like this that won't end up as a 5 hour video which is impractical to me. But, I might figure it out in the future, until then, this is the best I can do! hah

Thanks dude! All my characters have an FBX version too that can be used in any program, along with all the texture files. Yes it's a bit of a bitch to manually put put the materials together but that's the best I can do FBX's also usually have a simple rig on them that can be used in any program
