Possums are actually one of the few animals who can't carry rabies because of their body temp so as wild marsupials go they're probably one of the most harmless. But I did think it was weird the possum was out during the day...maybe it got knocked off its regular routine cuz of the Predator. 😂 Anyway pardons, couldn't help defending possums, love your reactions! ❤️

You both are young. Or am I old? My opinion, Amber MidThunder is like Ripley from Alien and Aliens. Ripley saw and fought the original Alien. The Colonial Marines don't believe her and get slaughtered. Ripley has to the Queen and save the little girl. The men always underestimate the power of women.

I thought the brother went out like a Boss. Actually, most of the Native American Warriors did. To give credit, a lot of the French fur traders did as well. Yes many of them were caught by surprise or tried to run. But others went toe to toe, though clearly not as effective as the Indigenous warriors. - I also liked that they showed those hand-to-hand fights. As great as Predator is, I always was disappointed that we never got to see the fight with Billy and it seemed to be over too quickly. Same thing with the character King Willy. I think that was his name. You see them face off, then you see him holding King Willy's head. Missed opportunities there.

A few facts: Predators have an honor system, they never kill an unarmed person, children, women (especially if they are pregnant) or those that have some kind of disability, cuz they are naturally weaker and pose no threat/challenge. They only hunt the biggest, strongest threat on a planet. The main reason is that it gives them mating rights (as explained in the comics), the predator with the best trophies has the best chance to get chosen by a female. They look for the best predator so that he can spread his genes and make the species stronger. Love your reaction. Hope you continue with this franchise (and Alien as well)
@MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive
@MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive 2 жыл бұрын
The Predator (or Yautja) society is also run by a Matriarchy. The females are far bigger and stronger than the males. The males who earn the right to mate do so through a deadly group mating/hunting ritual, where the female rip, tear, and crush the males.

@@schwartzy65 So one of the theories that seems to bear weight is this was either a young predator or the species 300 years in the past hadn't fully become the apex hunters we know them to be in other films. It made a lot of mistakes throughout the film in terms of fighting multiple adversaries at once instead of picking them off one at a time, etc. Had this been the predator from the original film (with all that tech, too) I don't think there would have been any survivors. What I love about “Prey” is that it’s themes are universal. Naru’s story is more than just a woman who wants to be a hunter. She’s someone who wants to be more than what her tribe expect her to be. She respects her traditions, but doesn’t want to be beholden to them. Her story is relatable because how many of us want to be more than what our families and society expect us to be? How many of us have had go against the norm to be who we truly want to be? I love the fact that Naru isn’t successful in the beginning, just like none of us are. But just like her we don’t give up on what is worth doing. We stand back up and try again. “Prey” is still a kick ass action film, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that they were able to subtly put in such a relatable message into a Predator film is amazing!

re: Naru weakening the lion... I feel like EVERYONE keeps missing this in all the reactions I watch, but she does in fact spear the lion right in the ribs as she's falling, but it happens so fast everyone keeps missing it haha Also disagree with a lot of comments re: which predator to watch first. The Predator "lore" doesn't really matter. The thing that made the predator cool in the first movie AND in this movie is what you DON'T know about the predator and are finding out as you go. You don't need a lot of lore. That's beside the point. This is a boxing match. Man (woman) vs alien. Our champion vs their champion. Hunter vs hunter. The predator is treating our planet like The Coliseum. That's all you need. This is the first movie since the original to get it right. Forget the rest.

@@vektorcraft9904 why should anyone have to do homework before watching a movie?? maybe it's more the filmmaker's fault for not providing better explanations for non-fans. This is supposed to be the prequel, right? For first timers to the franchise they would probably expect to get the info they need from this prequel so that they can appreciate the next ones in the series. Or, if it's absolutely necessary to watch Predator first to even understand this movie, then the filmmakers should have put up a title card instructing that at the beginning of the movie.

Is it weird that I find it odd that they cared more for the dog than the people in this movie? Every couple of minutes "don't get kill the dog" would pop up. I like all types of pets (maybe not snakes), but I didn't find myself pleading with the movie to leave the dog alone. I wasn't worried about the dog, maybe it's because I knew the dog wasn't a threat to the Predator, but probably because I was more concerned for the people in this movie. @Dos Cavazos (Kacee), 21:35 Think of Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt when thinking about the Predator. I wouldn't say he was a machine like the ones in this movie, but he enjoyed the sport of hunting apex predators, just like the ones in the franchise--that's what they do. We have Teddy bears because of the former president. He wouldn't kill a bear tied to a tree for him to kill, as there was no sport in that. The Predator doesn't care for prey, it wants a challenge, it craves competition. I think that's why it keeps coming back to Earth. Every now and then, a human comes along a bests this advanced race despite our many disadvantages. 24:57 watch the tree scene again. Before Naru fell out of the tree, she stabbed the mountain lion in the abdomen. I think she lived because the mountain lion was hurt badly and fled. It was already weakened by the time her brother found it. I'm not saying he had it you'll soon see how much of a bad ass he really is, but Naru stabbed it pretty good and who knows what the fall did to it with that spear already in it. 25:51 There you go! Gotta respect the hustle! 36:38 she broke off one of his own mandibles and stabbed him in one of his eyes or near his eye with hit, lol. Naru is a bad ass! 40:40 that gun in Naru's hands is the SAME gun we see in Predator 2! If this gets a sequel, Naru's tribe might be f'ed...or at least the last person to use that gun, anyway. Predator's want trophies and that gun was a trophy. It usually takes the skull and spine of its game, but maybe in the case of a standoff, as we saw in Predator 2, an exchange of weapons is made. Did Naru give up the gun for a different weapon? IMHO, this was a great Predator movie. I love the first and we wouldn't have all these sequels without it, but story-wise, I think this was a much better story. I still like the first, but this one is definitely one of the better Predator movies. Hands down.

There's some things you should know about the predator and this movie, the part where the predator just walks past naru he didn't see her because the medicine she took makes her body cold which the predator only sees people thru heat signature which. For the predators, they come to earth to hunt for sport and to see who is a worthy prey, if they fight honorably the predator rips out its skull for trophy, if it finds its worthy opponent it would take off its mask and fight without weapons, however it has its limits and their own code, if a person defeats a predator in combat or by intelligence, another predator will drop by and honor that person, they won't just kill for revenge they respect them, and if they see people unarmed or injured they won't kill them because the predator does not see them as a threat, and does not kill children.

WE FINALLY HAVE A GENUINELY AMAZING PREDATOR MOVIE SINCE THE FIRST ONE!!!! Don’t get me wrong, I really like Predator 2 and Predators, but this one doesn’t just beat them, it kills them, rips out their skulls and spines, and hangs them on its wall. Not only did it have intense action sequences, but both the director and writer managed to perfectly balance that tightrope of tension by both showing that this Predator is a truly terrifying and formidable threat while also not making him OP with his weaponry, thereby giving the people a fighting chance. On top of that I absolutely LOVED the portrayal of the Comanche Nation. Showing how they were and still are some of the best fighters, best horse riders and best hunters that have ever lived, while also showing how close knit of a community they are. I really loved how they went back and forth between English and Comanche when speaking with each other, next time I see this movie I’m watching the Comanche Cut where they speak Comanche throughout the whole movie. But my favorite part of this movie is seeing the story of Naru. She is honestly one of the most tenacious and badass characters I have seen in action or sci-fi movies in a long time. Amber Midthunder managed to be as much of a badass as freaking Arnold Schwarzenegger! And thank god they didn’t kill that adorable dog 🐕!

Completely agree but I have a special place for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem which was literally a nostalgia fest for fans of Aliens - so many Aliens fans say they hated Requiem and I'm like - did you miss how it was made specifically FOR Aliens fans? The easter eggs were NON STOP. The film's title features a distinctive vertical slash of light in the center, mimicking the main titles from Aliens. Not only is this a reference to the 1986 film, it is seemingly also a reference of sorts to the first Alien vs. Predator film, which instead featured titles in the style of Alien, to which Aliens is a sequel. During the opening titles, the sounds of both a Predator bio-helmet and the motion tracker from Aliens can be heard. During the opening scenes aboard the Predator ship, several Facehuggers are seen inside liquid-filled containment tubes; one of them lunges at the glass much in the same manner as the Facehugger that attempts to attack Burke in Aliens. The Trophy Room aboard the ship includes an Engineer skull high up on the wall. This serves as a reference both to the Pilot in Alien and the Xenomorph Drone skull seen in the Los Angeles hunting party's trophy cabinet in Predator 2. One of the lead male characters in the film is named Dallas, a tribute to Captain Dallas in Alien. The characters of Kelly and Molly O'Brien are often considered a direct analogy to the relationship between Ripley and Newt in Aliens. Both pairs share a mother-daughter relationship (be it literal or surrogate) and the characters also share many lines of dialogue. For example, Kelly assures Molly, "There are no more monsters," a reference to Newt's line, "My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are." A pyramid similar to the one from Alien vs. Predator can be seen in the background on the Predator homeworld. The chair in which Wolf sits on the Predator homeworld visually recalls the Pilot's chair in Alien. The bio-helmets worn by Scar, Celtic and Chopper in Alien vs. Predator can be seen alongside Wolf's when he arms up before heading to Earth. When Wolf arrives on Earth, the shot of his ship entering the planet's atmosphere is very similar to that of the Jungle Hunter being dropped off in Predator. After landing in the lake, the sequence where Wolf emerges from the water, his Cloak shorting out, is a near shot-for-shot recreation of the scene where the Jungle Hunter emerges from the water (just before Dutch discovers cold mud renders him invisible to the creature) in Predator. When the Predalien approaches the homeless lady in the sewers, one shot of her cowering in terror is remarkably similar to a shot of Lambert as the Alien approaches her in Alien. The panning shot that follows a blood trail to reveal Deputy Ray's skinned body hanging in the tree mirrors similar scenes in both Predator and Predator 2. While not quite a direct homage, the power plant in the film seems to be a reference to the Atmosphere Processing Plant in Aliens. In one of the added scenes in the Unrated Edition, Kelly wears a dressing gown very similar to the one worn by Ripley when Burke and Gorman come to recruit her in Aliens. When Dallas hears of the explosion at the power plant in the Unrated Edition, he comments, "Well this day just keeps getting better," paraphrasing Dutch's line, "This is getting better by the minute," from Predator. When Wolf is healing himself in the tree, a long panning shot follows a stream of his florescent blood up the tree, finally revealing Wolf perched on a branch. The same style of shot was also used in Predator and Predator, albeit with human blood. One of the tombstones in the graveyard seen in the Unrated Edition is marked "HAWKINS", a reference to the character Hawkins in Predator. In the Unrated Edition, one of the National Guard soldiers receives a Headbite and the Drone's inner jaw punches straight through his head and breaks a window behind him, mimicking David's death in Alien3. When the radio to the National Guard patrol goes dead, the whining static sound heard is the same as that heard after Dallas is taken in Alien. The acronym "OWLF" is seen on a monitor that Colonel Stevens is watching; the OWLF was Keyes' unit in Predator 2. In the same scene as above, the noise made by the Mother interface in Alien can be hard in the background. Also during the above scene, Stevens looks at footage of a Xenomorph on a monitor and asks, "What the fuck are you?" This is an homage to Predator, in which Dutch asks the Jungle Hunter almost the exact same question. The use of an IAV Stryker by the survivors is an homage to the APC used by the Colonial Marines in Aliens. During a later scene with Stevens in the military control center, the bleeping of the motion trackers from Aliens can be heard. Dallas yells at his brother Ricky, "Get to the chopper!" This is an obvious reference to Dutch's famous line in Predator. When Wolf takes off his bio-helmet and abandons most of his weaponry before facing the Predalien on the hospital roof, his actions and the various camera angles and edits used match the scene where the Jungle Hunter discards its equipment in the original Predator. The helicopter escaping from the nuclear explosion is similar to the dropship fleeing the explosion at the end of Aliens. The film's soundtrack takes movements, themes and many musical elements from all previous Alien and Predator movies, fusing them with its own style to create what is essentially a remix of the preceding movies' soundtracks. Likewise, many of the Xenomorph sound effects, such as their various hisses and death cries, are recycled from earlier movies, particularly Aliens.

Fun fact for most people that watch this movie and don’t know that quick Sandy type stuff the main character fell in is referred to as a Muskeg. A Muskeg is a North American swamp or bog consisting of a mixture of water and partly dead vegetation, frequently covered by a layer of sphagnum or other mosses. We have a lot of those here in Canada which is where this movie was shot as well.

I really liked this movie. The Predator design was way better than I was expecting. 2 things I hated were the CGI for the bear and the medicine which someone lowers body temperature to a point it can't be detected.

i think "cant be detected" isnt quite accurate you can still clearly make out the blood in the predators vision its just colder than normal for living, probably still doesnt make 100% sense but eh movie magic

I feel like a considerable amount of tension in this movie is "Dog please! Surviiiive!!! Get away from the danger!!" If that dog died, we'd all be destroyed

Just watched this and it's pretty impressive! Loved it! 8/10. They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and they have it a 10 minute ovation and the audience loved it! Dakota Beavers one of the actors, said that he was glad that the Native Americans in this movie are more portrayed in a positive light, instead of making them the villain of the story.

Honestly was shocked by how good this movie was. When I saw a bear taking a haymaker from a Yautja, I knew this was going to be a hell of a good movie. Just wish I knew there was a Comanche dub before going in. Definitely going to watch that, next time I watch it.

I loved this movie when I first heard they were planing on another predator film I was hesitant at first because the last film was absolute trash and really disappointing. Then when the director was planning on taking the predator 300 years back and pitting him against first Nations I was all in, going back to its roots with a total different take was great. In all honesty nothing can come close to the original the lighting in a bottle it came out during the right time with great actors but damn it this one came pretty damn close hope they keep the momentum going
