That's a brand new slab: isn't an acid etch sufficient?
@saabkyle043 жыл бұрын
I mentioned that in the video, even though it's a brand new slab, you still have to open the pores up enough for good adhesion. Will an acid etch work? Yes. However, you'll spend a lot longer, repeating the process several times, vs sanding it and getting the same, if not better results a lot quicker.
@MikeDayConcrete3 жыл бұрын
If you acid etch you'll have to let the concrete dry for 1,2,3 days before moving to the next step. Much better to grind, better profile and faster to complete the job.
@bpugsy7193 жыл бұрын
im certified in epoxy floor installation, and its good to see that you are having it done at least mostly right. most companies clean the floor and pour. its good to see these guys are actually mechanically prepping the surface. i haven't watched the whole thing yet, but they should take the concrete ALL THE WAY down to the ag, then they should vacuum it out really well to get the dust out of the pores, and THEN acid wash it to open up the pores more. i would have stayed away from the flakes personally because i love the look of a seamless reflective floor, and then just add extra play sand to give it a non slip surface. one of the biggest things i seen was the workers grinding the concrete without any mask or ventilator.... and allowing a customer to watch without a mask is a big no no as well. the cilica in the concrete is VERY bad for your health.
@saabkyle043 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm really happy with how it turned out. The look is exactly what I was going for. Why do you assume I didn't have a face covering? You can clearly see it around my neck after the dust had settled. I can't control what others do, but rest assured I wasn't about to be in there without a face covering lol.
@bpugsy7193 жыл бұрын
@@saabkyle04 You are right, i did make that assumption and i apologize. im glad you were being safe. i just take the masks super seriously when it comes to concrete dust, shit is toxic.

This turned out amazing. I can't decide if I'm gonna go with something like this or swisstrax or polished concrete. Can this type of floor resist oils, brake cleans, engine shampoo,etc.? Can it resist floor jacks without being indented?
@saabkyle043 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's supposed to be easy to clean and very resistant to chemicals, however things like battery acid and welding in close proximity can damage it. I'm not sure about the floor jacks, but I imagine it'd be ok. This coating is more durable than epoxy for high traffic areas. It's supposed to be more "flexible" to be more resistant to scratches, chips, etc.
