I've been digging lots of tiny bottles out of my garden while I've been relandscaping it. I kept them, because they are rather cute but didn't know what to do with them. I certainly have a good idea now - my son needs some greenery in his room without worrying about him bothering to water them. Thank you for these clever little ideas.

A cheap coffee grinder would come in handy for these projects, SerpaDesign. I also suggest using a fork when harvesting plants for inexperienced people. It will allow for the tines to pass through the roots while gently extracting them from the dirt unbroken. You can purchase plastic pipettes for about 5 cents a piece, and adding controlled amounts of water and bugs would be a very simple task using those. Other than those few suggestions I absolutely love this tutorial! It combines two of my favorite things, small swell containers and plants. It's almost February here in Minnesota so I am very sad to not be able to run out and create a few of these myself!

Woe and to think I've been stuffing mine with recycled paper flowers, think I might adapt this idea to have a crystal garden or even a crystal tree

Why the false bottom and what is its purpose
@meatsmell86398 жыл бұрын
Devon Conners Did you actually watch the video? at around 2:20 - 2:45 I believe he said what it's for.

Meat Smell "this will perform all yout typical functions of your false bottom" I dont care about the fresh water thing so much as the "typical functions"
@SerpaDesign8 жыл бұрын
A false bottom helps create a proper water cycle and it keeps the soil separate from the water. Long term exposure to water will cause the soil to become putrid, which will create an unhealthy environment for your plants. Having fresher water is also important for long term success. It is always a good rule of thumb to incorporate charcoal/carbon in some fashion (whether it be the false bottom, a separate charcoal layer, mixed in the soil or some combination of these).

No problem. It's really tough to keep up with all of the comments, but I want to be as accessible as possible to my viewers. Thanks for watching.

Have you thought about possibilities to intensify the ecosystems that these creations become? Something like adding citrus drops or essential oils? With such a boost in a specific type of mineral/vitamin, I could imagine that these ecosystem become the definition of beauty.
