@@dennisflaherty5241 Used on the sides of flatbed loads to distribute the pressure of straps used to secure the load.

This is a good idea, but those lath screws have self drilling tips and easily strip out the wood when over torqued like you did for each screw. Use wood screws with washers, or bigger wood screws with a bigger shank and head. They will hold much better. Trial and error is still the worlds best scientific method.

Valid point about the self tapping feature. I suppose even the 3/4 inch may still have a problem stripping out the wood.

Why not use pressure treated? Spruce is soft and silly
