V.I.N.CENT is one of my two favorite Sci Fi robots right next to the B9 Robot from Lost In Space. I even tried making my own V.I.N.CENT after seeing The Black Hole. I wasn't there in the 70's but I loved watching the movie and he has a place in my heart for fandomness. He was made from cereal boxes so not very accurate but is was fun. I'm glad to see you made one.

Bro,,, I would love to see your v.i.n.cent in person, the black hole is my favorite movie ever made. That movie made me fall in love with films, music robots and science. It took me 40 years to finally get all 3 robots from that movie,, and I bought doubles lol... I actually want to write a script for a sequel or prequel

You can try and contact the person I used to make my lights. His name is Peter. He has 2 emails you can try... pupfield@assureiv.com or peter@theironeasel.com. I know after the video came out he had several people contact him to make the LED displays.

That is grand. I was one of those kids who saw this in the cinema. I never understood how people didn't love this movie, but I'm fully willing to own up to the fact that I have MASSIVE nostalgia blinders when it comes to The Black Hole. I had all the toys (that were available in the U.S. anyway), had the books and I can't remember if I had a Black Hole lunchbox or not, but if one was made I'm sure I wanted it. V.I.N.CENT, Ol' B.O.B., and Maximilian will always be high on my list when it comes to film robots. I put them right up there with R2 and Forbidden Planet's Robbie the Robot. And a few places higher than the Lost In Space Robot as well.
@robbieburns3564 Жыл бұрын
That's great. I don't think anyone has ever created Vincent. I had a toy of him (and bob) as a kid. They even had toys of them in ceral boxes (Shreddies I think?). As an adult , I now recognize that Vincent and Bob are the epitome of 70's Disney creating a robot. They look like physical cartoons. The eyes mostly but the entire design looks like a cartoon robot come to "life".

@MacGalvin3 жыл бұрын
The benefits of working for a sign shop. Max was printed on 3M vinyl then applied to a sheet of 4'x 8' rigid corrugated plastic. Then I hand cut him out with an exacto knife. Happy to take an order for one. I still have the print file.

As a movie promotion, there were a number of 1:1 VINCENT replicas, made by the marketing dept, and in a dozen or so major metro areas. I remember my local news visiting the fully lit up and moving VINCENT replica, and how to enter your number to win it. So that means that there are between a dozen and maybe 20, studio made replicas that lit up and moved (and possibly made noise) SOMEWHERE out there. I hope someone else remembers this contest... I won an R2D2 Pepsi cooler and a 10 ft Naboo starfighter wal mart model for their Phantom Menace display , but no VINCENT.

Now that's some superb work! Very innovative, sir! And now for the Boss Fight: Make Maximilian, who is indeed the most evil robot of all time! 😁 (And we must be around the same age, because I was Age 7 when my parents took me to see The Black Hole in 1979. I was well into my teens when I finally _stopped_ looking away or closing my eyes a moment before Maximilian shreds a hole through Doctor Durant's chest. Anthony Perkins' acting was just too good! 'The Black Hole' was _very_ hardcore for a Disney movie.)

Question.... how did you get more than one backdrop for the V.I.N.Cent, Old B.O.B, & and MAXIMILIAN on the desk? I'd love to have a bigger backdrop than just the one that came with the set.
@MacGalvin3 жыл бұрын
I ordered the figures online. V & B came with the base and Max comes with the back card. When Max arrived, it was defective. I contacted the seller and they sent me a new Max. Hence the 2 card backs in one base.

I love The Black Hole, saw it in 1979 when I was just 9 years old, Disney made brilliant movies, I've contemplated making a V.I.N.C.E.N.T. instead I made my second favourite robot Drone Number 1 Dewey from Silent Running. Why do people always want cult classic movies remade?

I have a challenge for you. I can't prove it. But if you do a side by side comparison of Deep Thought from the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, the TV show version and Maximillian I swear you'll see where ole maxy was dreamed up. I think The Disney guys were fan boys.

Disney have fallen far from the 70s and 80s great movies, nowadays they're infected with wokeness, if they remade this movie nowadays there would be so much forced diversity and inclusion
