That's a really nicely made mould Eric, thanks for sharing. I have difficulty getting my silicone out of its container without getting it everywhere as there isn't a pouring spout in the lid, does your silicone come with that spout or did you add it later? If you didn't have have that spout how would you decant some into a smaller container?

"First thing - fire up the laser..." Oh, ok....let me just pop out to the shed and get mine fired up....uh huh... (massive sarcasm) While it's great that you have a laser cutter, and you're right to be proud of it, not everyone is gonna have one of these beasts, (due to cost) nor even the room for one. Makes these DIY tutorials so much more annoying, because you're talking about using impossible things that the regular person is not going to have. I could make amazing things too if I had thousands of dollars worth of high end equipment in my shed.....but I don't, and neither does anyone else who watches this. It would be more helpful if you showed people a way to create this stuff WITHOUT your most expensive pieces of equipment. Because here's the thing, as SOON as I see tutorials like this that start by mentioning their expensive toys, I stop watching, as I'm not going to be able to replicate it. It is not useful to me. This "tutorial" of yours is both dis-heartening and useless, because no one will be able to "follow along". Do you understand?

I have a quick question how can I make a foam design to resin? Is there a material that I need to cover the foam to create a mold then use the mold to use resin casting? I have a design but a foam is very breakable. I don't know how to make my foam resistance resin heat because the chemicals combine with resin A and B reaction creates heat and it seems that heat will melt the foam so I want to ask how to do it if is possible. Thanks waiting on your response.

I'm surprised at your use of shellac to coat materials exposed to silicone. Shellac is the one thing I've seen silicone stick to, other than other silicone. Most of my experience is with platinum silicones; is that a tin based silicone you use?

Hi Eric Great video to learn. I'm working on some project whare I need few identical parts. I can use this technique. Can I pour plastics into the mould?

Quick question, could you use plaster as the third layer? Wouldn’t this save money and keep the thickness in tact?

Hey Eric, you said to pour into the sprue low and at an angle so that it vents. Does the sprue have to be taller than the highest point and then cap the low vents or do you just tilt it back down and finish pouring? And why at an angle if it’s dome shaped? I’m only asking because I’m about to make about 30 very similar.

I usually lay it down flat once I see the resin come out the vents

@@EricStrebel Any ideas about how to get the air out other than degassing? I only have 180 seconds on this urethane that I use from BASF. I have been pouring it over an ramped wide flat surface and letting it stretch and get thin and run off the sharp edge at the bottom of the board which has been getting rid of most of the air. What would you suggest?

Yes, use a different resin that has a longer pot life

after 3 trips to the DIY shop and 60 tubes of bathroom sealant later i thought i'd go on youtube and search to see how other people do it, while my mould is hopefully setting ah moment at 3:10 i now see a much better but probably an even more expensive solution. anyway tomorrow i find out if I can get my WD40 sprayed master out of my mold.

SO I looked this up and turns out just that bucket of silicone is like $500. Guess I'll pass on this for now. Gotta eat.

I've got into bucket transfer at the moment - helps. I understand why you didn;t with this silicone type though. with additional cure type those bucket sides at this size would'nt be scraped enough. At least this is what I tell myself - tee hee.
