Jump to the beginning of the lecture: 12:14.
Advances in materials science, manufacturing, and computer science have enabled transformative innovations in wearable materials, with designs that can monitor metabolic activity, change stiffness on command, and even interpret our mood. These new materials will allow garments and fashion to bring together the physical and digital worlds. In this lecture, Daraio will show examples of how these materials will help us stay healthy, how they will revolutionize the way we communicate, and how they will adaptively support our everyday needs.

About the Series:
Since 1922, The Earnest C. Watson Lecture Series has brought Caltech's most innovative scientific research to the public.
The series is named for Earnest C. Watson, a professor of physics at Caltech from 1919 until 1959. Spotlighting a small selection of the pioneering research Caltech's faculty is currently conducting, the Watson Lectures are geared toward a general audience, as part of the Institute's ongoing commitment to benefiting the local community through education and outreach. Through a gift from the estate of Richard C. Biedebach, the lecture series is able to highlight assistant professors' research each season.
Caltech's 2022-2023 Watson Lectures are being presented virtually and can be viewed on Caltech's KZbin channel: bit.ly/Caltech...

If the wearable materials are sold (even online,) there can be a reclamation program offered by the seller (just like a return policy for defective products)... Reclaiming the materials for reprocessing into 3-D printable material (even if there is strength decay in reprocessing, it can be recycled/repurposed _ think ahead though!) that can be resold for reuse.

How did Caltech get to this woke level? Aren't there ANY "non diverse" professors worth highlighting?

I don't understand your comment. She is European heritage. So you object to her being a woman?

@@martintangora7324 I was thinking more about the intro. But her being a woman also fits. When I was at Caltech there were plenty of "non-diverse" faculty, and now they are actively avoiding hiring and/or highlighting that kind of individuals. Just look at the recent videos posted, the livestreams, and what is they type that gets featured.
